To say no to Nike trainers for school shoes?

DS is going into Yr 7, they're allowed to wear all black trainers or school shoes. He is wanting Nike trainers. I'd normally buy shoes shoes of similar price. Thanks.

I wouldn't. Not robust enough for winter and his feet will smell.

Is there a massive price difference? Between shoes and the trainers I mean.

I'd not be keen but then I remember the peer pressure of having the "names"

I’d probably say yes. Providing they were the leather type ones, not the ones with the mesh front bit which would = soggy feet.
I am much more comfortable in trainers, they’re usually lighter than school type shoes and they can play sport in them at lunch time.

You buy what you can afford regardless of whether he wants them or not.

I however have brought my dd the exact same trainers that you described as at 15 shes a size 9 so a good selection of footwear is limited, plus I found that her last pair of trainers she actually had for the whole school year which was a first.

So more like this... than the Roshe ones which are not leather.

I genuinely am surprised that schools allow trainers, this has come up a few times on here recently, none of the schools near me do (other than nursery). My preference would be for shoes but can see how he might feel if all of the other pupils wear trainers

My son had leather Nike Air Max last year and had no issues with them. They literally made it right through to the end of the year before falling apart and that included playing football in them at break times.

If they are the same price then why not?
