OH match days

He has a season ticket which he gets every year - drives me nuts but meh. It means the football is not on in the house then that’s a bonus Grin

Thing is, on match days he’s gone for around 8 hours. He’s not drinking because he’s driving and we only live 30 minutes away from the ground (I presume traffic is bad though obviously when it’s match day) but still, 8 hours seems excessive.

I believe it’s cause they like to get a good spot in the pub beforehand or something (he goes with his Dad, he doesn’t drink cos of driving).

AIBU to think this is a bit much? How long are your partners away on match day?

His Dad is a total football addict and will watch the game at the pitch and then again when he comes homes to “see the bits up close you can’t see when you’re there” Hmm

I havent got a problem with him going to games, it’s just annoying that he’s gone so long. When his Dad goes with him. He’ll leave about 2-3 hours earlier than if he goes on his own.

He deserves his downtime I get it, but it’s annoying when match days pretty much write off the rest of the day Angry

I’m BU aren’t I?

If it is the only time he spends with his dad, perhaps reasonable, but seems a long time otherwise.

When I go to games I leave about 1230 and am back about 6- would be a lot less if our local council had not forced the club to move.

Seems he follows the local team not a glory seeking Man U fan- if he was then going at all would be unreasonable.

Not my dp but my ds who is 15. Season ticket for premier league club Everton
and he leaves at 1.30 and is back by 5.30-6 and he goes with his dad.

8 hours seems excessive for a local game.

About 5 hours for DH, we again are only half an hour away. He often takes one of the boys though, and its the only time he seesone of his mates. I like the peace!

Do you have DCs? If so, do you get the same amount of down time?
We’re generally out of the house between 5 and 6 hours but we go fairly early to get a good parking spot and DS likes to get player autographs while they’re warming up. We only live 15 minutes from the ground though so 8 hours doesn’t seem that much tbh.

We are about an hour from the stadium, dh will probably leave 2 hours before to get through traffic, park and get in for kickoff and be back about the same amount after final whistle, unless he really gets stuck in traffic so about 6 hours plus. If he takes dd to a midweek game less time because he will leave before the end so as to miss traffic because she has school the next day.

My older brother and his son have season tickets and on some home match days they leave the house at about 9.30am and go into town (it takes no more than 30 mins in the car, though they get a taxi - couldn't possibly go on public transport - so that they can drink!) and go to a pub for "a breakfast" and then continue to drink until they go to the match.

If they go straight home afterwards - and I'm not sure if they do - they're out a good 8 hours and more.

It’s once a fortnight for 9 months of the year. Give the guy a break.
