To ask how to become a dog walker?

I'm considering becoming a dog walker in the day time, I'm currently working in the evenings and am considering becoming a dog walker in the day time. There's at least 10 dogs just on my road and the owners all work full time and I live a 5 minute walk from a massive park. I already know first aid for cats and dogs.

Just wondering the basics, how do I start? Do I need any special insurance? I'm in the North West and have looked at rates of other dog walkers but there don't seem to be any in my area. Just looking for some tips

Yes, just print a little flyer with your photo and bullet point list of what you offer, post it through the letterboxes.

Insurance easily available online from specialist dog walking/pet care companies.

Be prepared for all weathers!

Buy a little neck bag...poo bags, whistle, spare leads etc

If you'll be going into the homes of these people, you'd better get a DBS done (look online for DBS), also liability insurance

I’d be stunned if there were not other dog walkers in your area . Do you have a dog , do you have experience with different types of dog ?

You'll need insurance and business insurance on any vehicle you plan on using. You should probably have a DBS and somewhere safe to store peoples keys if you are keeping the owners keys. You would need to check any vehicle you were using met regulations for transportation- especially important if you are planning on using a van.

I had a DBS check done a few months ago for a new job and have my certificate and I've just set up dog walking insurance!

@Floralnomad within a 30 minute walk from me there are absolutely no dog walkers around! I don't have a dog but know lots of about different breeds and have walked and house sat many friends dogs before
