To expect sil to help ..... at least a bit?

Currently at the outlaws which is a highly stressful experience. Mil is a complete control freak about how everything is done. I am currently prepping a bbq to mil’s exacting requirements eg must use this bowl, don’t cut cucumber like that for salad etc....while my sil has pissed off again for a 2 hour run.
Would I be unreasonable to run them both through with the bluntest knife in the world ever or skewer them on a kebab?

Oh just seen he's doing BBQ. Would you rather do that? Get him to swap. I hate the old "me man, me BBQ meat"scenario. And ugh to thinly sliced cucumber!!

Get them one of those mandoline slicers for their Christmas. I slice my cucumbers on one and they come out perfectly. Waffer thin every time!

Probably too late by now, but do they’re have a box grater. If so, use the slicing bits in the side next time.

Tell her you like your cucumber crunch and only people with no teeth like it thinly sliced (that’s what I have told my mum who is terrified of appearing “common”).

How far is she running for 2hrs? Half marathon?

Your SIL is having you on, she's in the nearest pub with a G&T, a nice glossy magazine and a pub lunch...and she's going to claim the bathroom for an hour or more to freshen up afterwards. While MNting from the bathroom
She will emerge fragrant and rested from the bathroom and nab the least burned burger and claim exhaustion from the two hour run and spend the evening on her behind while MIL scowls at you and your shoddy cucumber slices.

Unfortunately OP they saw you coming!

Get drunk,have daytime and prime OH to take you up to bed before the clearing begins.If he fails carry too many plates and drop them accidentally.
We have our salad cucumbers cut into cubes btw.

If you do all the prep, just stay sitting down when the clearing up happens and do not do any! Them that cooks do not wash up!

Why should your sister in law help? It really doesn't take three people to make a salad

I find that saying 'oh, isn't it interesting how we all do things differently' very useful in these circumstances. But then, i have no issue with being considered lazy and rude by people i don't enjoy working with. Helps a lot
