AIBU to wait till Monday....

My 11 year old has recently (within the last month) developed a rash that worsens randomly - which we have so far treated with piriton.
Times it worsens:
After the sea
Being near hay
Car boot fair field
Mornings (?!)

He's never had any allergy rashes before and isn't known to have any allergies other than strawberries.

The rashes don't cause any pain, but do sometimes itch.

Normally they go away after piriton- but this one has stayed since Thursday.

He's fine in himself - no cold, no headache, the rash depresses (goes white if pressed) and he is a normal temperature.
He's not bothered by it other than it's physical appearance.

So my question is, AIBU to wait to see our regular GP on Monday or do I need to go to out of hours ??

I think I'm being reasonable to wait till Monday - but I'm fully prepared to hear I'm being a dick and need to get him to the weekend doctors.

If it's the same rash been coming and going for a month I would wait till Monday or you could call 111 if your worried. It looks like a rash I used to get at that age which was an E number allergy.

Pop into a pharmacist today if you're at all worried and they can put your mind at ease.
Looks to me like an allergy but I'm not medically trained.

kaytee87 · 01/09/2018 08:48

I'm allergic to mornings too Grin

WhirlyGigWhirlyGig · 01/09/2018 08:53

When I had a hideous rash I took advice from a pharmacist. My daughter recently came up with quite a severe reaction very quickly recently so I took pictures and popped to the pharmacy again. They were really helpful.

OhDearGodLookAtThisMess · 01/09/2018 08:54

What's he eating for breakfast?

Dafspunk · 01/09/2018 09:02

Heat rash? The sea, hay and car boot sales sound like nice weather activities (so sunny/hot) and my dad has heat rash in the mornings if he’s slept under a duvet.

Just a suggestion - I have no medical training whatsoever.

Chipotlejars · 01/09/2018 09:08

Poor lad that looks quite bad. Does he have milk at breakfast? Or could it be a detergent you've washed your sheets in? I'd be booking the GP first thing Monday if he is ok in himself but keeping out of hrs an option if it worsens. Is it getting worse each time btw?

TeenTimesTwo · 01/09/2018 09:20

Put loose shorts on him so the legs can be pulled up easily and go along to a pharmacist.

OhDearGodLookAtThisMess · 01/09/2018 09:59

Re: breakfast, I was thinking hay> wheat> cereal type things. Doesn't explain the sea part, unless there were sand dunes and long grass nearby.

WrongKindOfFace · 01/09/2018 10:08

Looks like heat or sweat rash. He looks to be quite overweight which could make him sweat more.

I’d wait until Monday to see the gop, unless it gets significantly worse, but I’d pop in and ask a pharmacist for their advice.

OhDearGodLookAtThisMess · 01/09/2018 10:27

Is it worse at the tops of his thighs than elsewhere? Would that be where he's been wearing close-fitting shorts?

TrudeauGirl · 01/09/2018 10:31

Could it be thigh rub? The heat and irritation from that?

Then again if it's worse near hay and stuff i'd say it was an irritation from that. I'm not sure what to suggest.

TrudeauGirl · 01/09/2018 10:32

Oh my mistake I didn't see the picture of his back. Blush

Ignore the thigh rub suggestion.

Birdsgottafly · 01/09/2018 11:02

Don't phone 111. They tell you to go to hospital with any rash on a child.

What does he eat before bed? It could be that the allergy comes out overnight.

He needs allergy testing, but it can wait until Monday. Just treat him for the itch.

It shouldn't be taken to an out of hours, or weekend cover Doctor.

exexpat · 01/09/2018 11:07

Have you changed your washing powder recently or started using fabric softener? Do you line-dry clothes and bedding? He could be reacting to pollen caught in the fabric.

yellowspottedwellies · 01/09/2018 15:34

Thank you all - I will wait till Monday and update x
