To think Christmas talk/problems/logistics in AUGUST is OTT

Sorry now.

Am I alone in thinking this? I do realise that some people have to plan for overseas/up and down country visits in both directions.

But is it a bit early to generally open topics about Christmas in August?

Nope. My family is across four countries and two continents. We plan early.

Have you all sen plane ticket prices? It's already quite late. Prices have been going up by a day

Lots of late in the year birthdays here so I do try to spread the buying!

Also, when I was in retail we would be planning xmas & negotiating holidays etc round about now. We couldn't book holiday in Dec so people would be working out which days they could/couldn't work and arranging trade offs, rotas would start to be sketched out, we'd start getting xmas party package offers and everyone would be scrabbling to fit in a good holiday before Dec. We'd also shop early, too- we don't have much time or inclination to do it at Christmas! I'm about to book my Spirit of Christmas ticket.

Both DP and I have divorced parents who live at the opposite ends of the south coast over 500 miles apart so we do have to start thinking about jt around now to figure out logistically how we're going to do it this year

Sometimes it's not within your control when to start thinking about it, especially if you have elderly family members you know are going to make things difficult / want to tie you down now as to what your arrangements are. It's not come up with us yet but I am predicting it won't be long....
