To bother the GP with my never ending list of ailments?

So yes I will at some point be attempting to get a GP appointment, but living in London and having a full time job means it will take weeks to be seen.

I've gone from being a relatively fit and healthy 25 year old to a limping wreck within the last 6 weeks. It started with joint pain, mainly my knees and hips, which made it painful to walk. Followed by a stinking cold which hasn't left. My achilles tendon is incredibly sore, creaks when moving and painful to touch. Due to hip, knee and heel pain, even standing up is total agony and a short walk will leave me sweating and nauseous from pain. Last night I slept with shoes on as I couldn't reach to take them off.

As of this weekend I've also started developing painful, hot lumps on my legs, around the size of 2p coins. They aren't itchy but are red and raised and don't look like boils or insect bites.

This is mostly just a whinge but I'm completely exhausted and feel like I'm falling apart. Have I just been really unlucky or is there any chance these symptoms are all related?

You need to see a GP as soon as possible. Take a sick day as surely your colleagues have seen you are suffering.

I think you need a sick day and an urgent appointment.

Don't mess with your body, or it will just stop working, and that will be way worse.

Op write a list of all your symptoms , and if you can write down next to each symptom how long you have had it..

And then hand the page to the dr, it will make it easier to diagnose whatever is causing this if they have the full information

And when talking to.drs and listing your symptoms is partway through they stop and ask about some symptoms and before you know it the appointment can be over and you haven't remembered to say half of what you wanted to say,...so write it all on a page in list form with the time when each roughly started,

If your symptoms are that bad why haven't you seen a GP? They could be related. It could be important. Go asap.

Definitely do this else you might forget to mention something.

Lumps should always be checked out. I would go to walk in centre even ED to get relevant blood tests

chickenloverwoman · 29/08/2018 13:26

Sounds like Erythema Nodosum to me as well! Get to a GP asap.

Prettysureitsnotok · 29/08/2018 13:42

The lumps are a new development which aren't affecting me too much, but the pain in my right hip is so bad today that I can't put weight on my right bum cheek while sitting -- which is causing strain on my left knee from supporting the weight.

I want to ask work whether I can work from home for the rest of this week to rest / try and get a GP appointment but it's always a bit funny asking for exceptions when the only external evidence of my issues is a limp which I'm not sure anyone has actually noticed...

OP, where on earth do you work where you're too frightened to take time out to see a GP in your state???

It's been six weeks of joint pain, a cold that won't shift, tendon pain, nausea, painful, hot lumps and exhaustion.

Imagine you were reading that list about someone else. What would you advise them to do?

In the very nicest way, for fuck's sake get on the phone to your GP surgery, tell them your symptoms and insist on being seen as an emergency.

@Prettysureitsnotok have you managed to see a doctor yet? How are you feeling?
