Really can't be arsed his morning. Got a project to deliver so I won't but what's the point of work? Really feel like going back to bed.

I'm bad ain't I?

Everyone has days like this - best thing to do is usually to get up and go in. Unless this is a regualar thing then maybe chat with a doctor? Or change jobs if you think it's more your job than your mental health.

Feeling like going back to bed and ringing in sick when you aren't are two different things.
NU to feel like the first but you would BU to do the second.

premiertav · 29/08/2018 08:31

Only on Mumsnet can someone wanting to take a sickie lead to 'call your GP'

PrivateDoor · 29/08/2018 08:34

Don't blame you, the daily routine of it all does get wearing at times! (or is it waring??)

You will be grand when you get in. I am just finished work and heading to bed, woo hoo!

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 29/08/2018 08:36

Oh FFS first reply talks about possible MH issues because someone wants a day off to chill. Yes definitely "Only on mumsnet"

ShatnersBassoon · 29/08/2018 08:37

You wouldn't be human if once or twice a year you didn't wake up and think 'Today's the day I'm going to run away with the circus'.

Book a day's leave for the end of the week/ beginning of next when you get in today. Authorised duvet days are far more relaxing than sneak sick days.

I think the pp was implying that if this is a regular feeling, then it could mean the op is a little depressed; not wanting to get up and face the day and feeling "what's the point?" being common symptoms. But that's just my take on it (remembering vividly that feeling myself).

Fluffyears · 29/08/2018 08:41

I hear ya, when the alarm went off I wondered how I could fake my own death. Realised it wasn’t possible so dragged myself to the shower.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 29/08/2018 08:41

Ha ha. Runaway with the circus. Sounds fab. However I already live in a circus.Grin

Rarfy · 29/08/2018 08:44

I know what they were implying. My point was that the OP was obviously being a bit lighthearted about not being arsed to go to work. There was no need for such a huge over reaction.

It took everything I had to drag myself out of bed this morning. I took my tablets when my alarm went off then slept for another half hour while they kicked in and my wife showered. The first thing she said when she walked into the bedroom to get dressed was, "can we go back to bed instead?"

It's not just you OP! Today is grey and pretty cold here at the moment as well which doesn't help. And my office is boiling, could take a nap under my desk right now.

Fluffyears · 29/08/2018 08:54

Husband suggested just heading back to bed as well as we were going out the door. He took my hand and said let’s just go back up the stairs and go back to sleep :( so tempted. It must be something in the air today x

InfiniteVariety · 29/08/2018 09:05

what's the point of work?

Think about it

DontCallMeCharlotte · 29/08/2018 09:10

It's so miserable out there today (where I am anyway). I tend to use all my A/L for actual holidays or events so I never get a home day (apart from weekends which isn't the same at all) and this morning I too was very tempted to throw a sickie, whack the heating on and take to the sofa with the cat, a bottomless teapot and a good book. I feel your pain OP.

Imamouseduh · 29/08/2018 09:11

I feel you OP. Late waking up this morning because I had a shit nights sleep, massive project to finish today and I can feel a sore throat coming on. Oh, and I have to take the dog out in the pouring rain before I can get started on any of it!

< pathetic face >

NewGrandad · 29/08/2018 09:20

In work now and though the OP was light hearted I have had time off previously with depression (not work related). Could really be back under the duvet though.

I'm at home today (often am due to nature of work). Usually up (and grumbling about it) at a reasonable time, but am coldy and extra whingy so decided a lie-in and a later finish would be the plan. DH brought me breakfast (lovely chap but I had to wake up to eat it Hmm). Tried again - farrier called to book ned in. Tried again - DH came to see how I was doing. Tried again - handyman arrived to poke the guttering. Gave up. Now drinking tea, eating chocolate (judge me I currently don't care), and working.

OP I feel your pain.
