Preferably in a squeezy bottle Smile

And no, I never store it in the fridge Wink

Just put the honey container in a bowl of warm water. It'll be fine.

Agentornika · 26/08/2018 16:17

I've tried the warm water thing and it's never worked for me

CarpeVitam · 26/08/2018 16:19

Doesn't work for me either

Justmuddlingalong · 26/08/2018 16:20

Nor me. 🐝

Tisfortired · 26/08/2018 16:21

I've had a squeezy bottle of Rowse for 2-3 months now which hasn't crystallised yet.

stillnotTheDoctor · 26/08/2018 16:22

Is the cupboard you keep it in cool? My honey is fine during the summer but in the winter the kitchen gets really cold and it crystallises.

RedneckStumpy · 26/08/2018 16:23

We keep bees, All real honey will crystallize. Heat it in the microwave, or hot water.

NoParticularPattern · 26/08/2018 16:24

I find it’s very hit and miss. I buy Lidl honey in a squeeze bottle and 9/10 don’t crystallise but occasionally it does. They are all stored (opened and unopened) in the same place and it is seemingly random which it happens to. It does seem to get worse when it’s been open a while and over half has been used. Bowl of freshly boiled water and keep changing it does help. You’ve got to really heat it up. Or just use it crystallised!

Singlenotsingle · 26/08/2018 16:26

Try agave nectar. It's very similar to honey but a bit runnier. You'll find it with the sugars in Tesco

bilbodog · 26/08/2018 16:28

How about keeping it in the airing cupboard - if you have one? I keep mine on the cooler side of the aga which dies the trick (stealth boast😁)

OftenHangry · 26/08/2018 16:28

If there was a honey which NEVER crystallised I would be scared to eat it tbh...

Nature of honey, surely.

beecrazy · 26/08/2018 16:30

Depends on what flowers the honey is from how quickly it will crystallize and temperature it's stored....never in fridge.
Stand the jar in hand hot water, keep changing it, can take a while. Or 10secs in microwave, wait a minute then another 10 secs and so on. Overheating destroys the good bits that people pay a fortune for in Manuka honey

Bunchofdaffodils · 26/08/2018 16:30

Lol, was going to recommend Tesco value honey but guess it’s not got much honey in it?! I thought cold did it but we had some rowse that crystallised in the heatwave.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 26/08/2018 16:31

Ours always crystallises no matter what brand we buy (cold cupboard). Whack in the microwave and nuke. It will melt again.

Caution, this works better with glass jars than squeezy bottles which have a tendency to melt too!

SerenDippitty · 26/08/2018 16:31

Stick it in the mi rowave for 10 second bursts.

Bunchofdaffodils · 26/08/2018 16:32

Mmm love honey 🍯😍

CarpeVitam · 26/08/2018 16:47

Ok, thanks for the tips. Will give agave nectar a try I think Smile

Look out for creamed honey which doesn't go hard. Contact a local beekeeper through the BBKA website (British Beekeepers association) they should be able to tell you who has some....local always best!

Stressedoutmamma · 26/08/2018 22:59

The crystals happen because of the types of pollen in the honey The jam type fruit pollen is high in fructose and will crystallise quicker but all honey will withing 2 years but it is good for it as it preserves better than runny honey

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 26/08/2018 23:21

Do not do what I did.

I put a squeeze bottle of honey in the microwave, to soften it. The plastic melted, so the bottle slumped over, and the hot honey and hot air in the bottle meant that it started spurting out of the bottle, as it circled in the microwave, spreading molten honey everywhere.

When I opened the microwave, it squirted me with hot honey too. I had to clear up whole, sticky mess, and then go out and get more runny honey for the teriyaki marinade I was making.

When it comes to toast with honey, I actually like the crystalline honey - I like the crunchy sweetness.
