He also has the inability to actually wash everything, there is always a spoon or something left unwashed in the bowl. Grrr!!

I’m not sure DH has ever washed up in his life.

thecatsarecrazy · 27/08/2018 06:39

Yes my dh does. It pisses me off because if i wash I dry up and put away. He is only doing a 3rd of the job

bsbabas · 27/08/2018 21:24

My dp doesn't wipe the surfaces down doesn't put the clean stuff away just sort of left next to the just washed dishes and always leaves something yo be washed up grrrrrrrrr

H00T3R · 27/08/2018 23:57

I do this as I can't be arsed to dry up before or part way through washing up. I do wash up properly though - everything is nice and clean!

Rebecca36 · 28/08/2018 00:32

Get a dishwasher.

BlackeyedSusan · 28/08/2018 00:36

but washing up tetris is so much fun.

NewtScamandersNaughtyNiffler · 28/08/2018 00:41

Mine does the opposite. He washes a couple of items and says the draining board is full Confused
Sometimes he lays the tea towel out on the side and puts a few more things on there so I end up with a load of washing up still to do and a soaking wet tea towel. Angry

On the rare occasion he does stack things he doesn't put anything upside down so the bowls/cups/ tubs end up with loads of water in.
I can't wait to work out what's wrong with the dishwasher!

I love being single.

Ex played Bin Jenga, Dish Rack Jenga, Sink Jenga (with stinky water) and Dishwasher Saboteur (this is where you load the dishwasher so the spinning arms can't spin properly, pots get broken, glasses are smashed and food is not scraped off plates properly beforehand). Everything needs soaking afterwards to remove the baked hard, dried up pieces of food that cover everything.

Tetris Shopping Saboteur is where you cram everything into one shopping bag (even though there are two available bags to use). Croissants, Eggs, Raspberries and other light produce on the bottom then stuff the 4 cans of beer down on top.

MyShinyWhiteTeeth · 28/08/2018 02:37

Other fun games are Washing Machine Wipeout - Stack up tall all the dirty pots on the washing machine ready for someone else to sort out - then wash just 2 items of clothing. How many can your girlfriend remove safely once the spin cycle starts?

HerRoyalNotness · 28/08/2018 03:19

DH always leaves the pots of doom
On the stove top,
As if he can’t seem them so they must not exist
I get that job the next morning
Great

My DH does Pickup Sticks with the kitchen utensils combo with the knives sticking out of the holder, which is fun when everything falls all over the place.

The other one is the sliding puzzle in the fridge, you have to move a bowl to the left to free up space, then find you still need to find room for that pesky yoghurt pot so have to shuffle everything around. Ends up a bit like tessellation in GCSE maths

Chouetted · 28/08/2018 03:42

The spoons multiply at the bottom of the bowl, I'm convinced of it.

No matter how thoroughly I sweep the bowl, there's always one left when I tip the water out.

bitchywitch · 28/08/2018 07:51

My husband barely ever even does the dishes, never mind gets as far as to stack them! Envy

OutPinked · 28/08/2018 08:00

I do it and DP is the one who hates me for it Grin.

5FootMama · 28/08/2018 08:06

My DH has one “named” job. The Washing up. (My named job, Laundry, DS(14) named job is Bins, DD(11) Named job is Putting shopping away) the named job is only done by that person. Each person choses their task. Kids can change everyone’s so often if they want ( haven’t changed for 2 years though!) it’s a Household Rule. We help each other out occasionally, but it is accepted that nobody else is responsible for that job.

DH will leave it until EVERYTHING in the kitchen needs washing up to do the big wash up. Normally 2 days worth Envy So, he has to, on request, come in the kitchen and wash up anything that happens to be needed. Eg, a bowl, a spoon and a mug for me for my Breakfast.
Then he’ll bitch and moan that the kitchen looks like a shithole ( it’s spotless, apart from the washing up!) then he’ll huff and puff about having to do the washing up, and it taking “ so long” he eventually does it. Takes a good 45 minutes.
Then he’ll occasionally do the washing up straight after a meal, and mention “oh it’s so much easier if I do it straight away, only takes ten minutes!” (It’s a revelation EVERY time) and which point I say “yes, you should do this always” which he agrees.

And repeat.

Stupid thing is, we HAVE A DISHWASHER. He just hasn’t bothered getting it fixed/replaced Confused

Anne88 · 28/08/2018 08:08

You could get a dishwasher and load it yourself?

I think this could be a 'man thing'. They just don't see the bits left on when they wash up.

Or they don't like doing it so they do it as fast as they can.

And they can't grasp how to load a dishwasher properly.

I don't know what the answer is , sorry.....

BELLAARA · 28/08/2018 08:18

Yes!!! And then he slams the door when he leaves and we've had crashy crashy. Always the lovely things, never 50p Ikea tumblers...
And what is with the inability to wash it all. And not leave dirty cold water in the bowl. Oooooh i could jump through him Wink

Atthebottomofthesea · 28/08/2018 08:19

I play buckaroo.

My phase to dh is 'stack it high, sell it cheap' as he will just 'tidy' by putting everything in an increasingly high pile. He has no regard for light or heavy items.
