He's a nice person but is living in the 1950s!

He keeps sending stupid text jokes about women, two examples:-

One a woman looking out of a plane window saying this is where a woman wants to be, this has a further photo attached that has a woman looking into a washing machine sating but this is where she should be.

Another "joke" with a caption saying she told me no more sex until I put a ring on it. Then a photo of a bed with a boxing ring round it saying I hope she liked it.

I've thought about saying you do know the year is 2018 and not 1950 don't you!

Driving me mad, do I just say stop your stupid sexist not funny jokes.

The above are two examples but he sends loads!

Or am I a miserable cow?

I like CryptoFascist reply - I'm going to use that idea from now on too when I have stuff like that said to me

ChasedByBees · 25/08/2018 08:04

I would have been really harsh. With the boxing ring, I would have asked him why he thinks you’re going to find domestic violence funny considering how many women die each year and pointed out that you don’t send him homophobic ‘jokes’.

QueenOfThorns · 25/08/2018 08:04

abbieo maybe the second is faintly amusing, but what did you find funny about the first? Confused

QueenOfThorns · 25/08/2018 08:05

Oh golly, I totally didn’t get the domestic violence meaning in the second one Blush

WeightorWhite · 25/08/2018 08:08

@DownTownAbbey no he doesn't! I'd say a 50/50 split!

You do need to tell him to stop, it's a far more simple & long term solution.

"Cuz, I love you, but I don't like these type of sexist jokes, please stop sending them to me".

ChasedByBees · 25/08/2018 08:13

That’s the way I interpreted it anyway Queenofthorns

CryptoFascist
You deserve a prize, I think that was an absolutely brilliant idea! Flowers

ASimpleLampoon · 25/08/2018 08:25

"Please could you stop sending me jokes. I don't want to receive any more. Thanks in advance"

TooTrueToBeGood · 25/08/2018 08:27

I had a friend who used to mailbomb everyone, including me, with jokes. Unlike your case, it wasn't so much that they were inappropriate, just the volume and pointlessness of them was extremely irritating. I called him out on it. I pointed out that as and when i ever feel in the mood for a joke or two I'm perfectly capable of googling some for myself. Second point, if he thinks that emailing jokes counts as communication it really doesn't. If he wants to communicate with me as a friend then write something, maybe tell me what's going on in his life or better yet show an interest in what's going on in mine. I closed by stating that if i received one more fucking joke from him I'd block his number. The jokes stopped.
