It's happened several times now and always when in a big shop (supermarket, toy store etc).
I start feeling really dizzy and detached from my surroundings.
My entire body feels weak and I just feel as though I need to get out of there!

I'm not sure if it's the feeling unwell that makes me panic, or if the feeling of panic comes first and makes me feel unwell.
I know that sounds bizarre but it's like a vicious circle.
The more I panic, the worse the dizzy sensation becomes, and the worse I feel the more I panic.
I have suffered from panic attacks in the past, but I'm also pre menstrual so I'm not sure if it's anxiety, hormones or something else.
I'm hoping as it has only happened in big shops up to now that it's anxiety related rather than something physical.

It was literally as though I'd stepped onto the waltzers!

Wow , I thought it was just me ! I get it anywhere 'artificial' , so shopping centres , airports . I hate it because I generally need to be 'with it' in these situations- keeping an eye on departure boards or making sure I don't forget an item I need to buy , but I feel all detached and floaty and unable to concentrate.

This has also happened to me tends to be in the really big shops like Debenhams and tj maxx it's horrible

I also suffer from migraines, they were horrific pre and peri menopause , they're getting fewer and more spaced out post menopause but I still feel weird in shopping centres etc.

Yes there was a thread about this subject and supermarket lights not long ago! Will try to see if I can find it!

I get this! It’s worse when I’m tired, and it’s only big supermarkets!!! Plus I get migraines fairly regular as well but never thought the two were linked...

Get your blood pressure checked while you are at the GP too...I get similar and it is just that my blood presure and resting heart rate are super low (probably due to the vast amounts of running I do!).

Maybe read this and see if it sounds familiar. My cousin was telling me about how when he’s confronted with hundreds of kids coming at him in the corridor at lesson changeover, he gets this.

When pregnant I was instantly nauseous in shops with flourescent lighting such as supermarkets and at the time I found out I wasn't alone! It seems to elicit an unpleasant physical response in some people, akin to migraines and some epileptic expreriences, which I'd categorise as different to generally feeling anxious or claustrophobic. Of course it could be that, or a combination. Not nice though x
