to think that a UK toothbrush/razor travel plug adapter should be a thing?

Why can't you buy an adapter to convert a UK 2 pin electric toothbrush or razor to a EURO 2 pin plug?!?!?

All the ones I can find on Amazon are either UK 2 pin to a UK 3 pin (which will then mean plugging all that into a European adapter) or massive multi converters which will take a two pin.

I want a small uk 2 pin to Euro two pin adapter. Anyone know why these don't appear to be in existence? Or if they are where I can get one?

Bathroom plugs (the ones that take razors and toothbrushes) are the same in europe as here. At least they are in Spain anyway, so you should be able to either plug it straight in or get a bathroom plug to european adaptor.

But they aren't the same as a 2 pin plug socket and if you are going somewhere that doesn't have a bathroom plug, you need a converter.

I know this because when I last when on holiday made this mistake and discovered half way through once the battery had run out it wouldn't plug in.

As it happens I've answered my own question and found a plug that does the job here:

Is a 2 pin shaver plug the same as a 2 pin European mains adapter?

No, not quite. A 2 pin plug found on an electric toothbrush or shaver has pins that are closer together than a traditional 2 pin EU mains adapter.

This means that appliances that would normally connect to a shaver socket cannot and should not be connected to mains power in Europe.

For example, if you charge your electric toothbrush in a shaver socket at home in the UK, that same plug cannot and should not be connected to the 2 pin socket found on the wall of your hotel room in France or Spain. However, most bathrooms will have a shaver socket which you can connect to.

Yes, I travel with an electric toothbrush and need to bring an adapter plug for the 2 prongs and then a UK - EU adapter. So if you find an adapter let me know, one less thing to bring!

@buttermilkwaffles

One is suggested on that page I linked above at the bottom.

They suggest this one

I have no idea if it is the correct type - just reporting what I read on that page. I think I'm going to get one though it looks like it would take a UK two pin in the picture

I just take a manual brush and chuck it away after last use. It saves faff like this.

Who knew!
I'm in Spain atm and brought my electric brush and charger I just tried to plug it in thinking you must be mistaken So I'd need to plug it into two converters to charge it here?
I hope the charge lasts till I go home Saturday

@Pinkandyellowandgreen
Thanks, but I found one on ebay, only £2 so I got one to try

If you can find somewhere with a razor/toothbrush socket in the bathroom (ie. those special bathroom sockets like the ones we have in the UK) it should plug in there as it is without a converter.

If not, then you will need an adapter - either one like the one linked to above (which will take a UK toothbrush 2 pin and convert it directly to a European 2 pin) OR one that converts the toothbrush 2 pin to a UK 3 pin AND THEN plug that 3 pin adapter into a UK => Europe adapter.

I only discovered this last year so you aren't the only one to get caught out.

If you are staying a hotel, plenty of good hotels will have converters that take a UK toothbrush 2 pin (a sort of universal socket type) so its worth asking if they don't have bathroom razor sockets.

I like the smallness of that one - it was exactly what I was after. Bit dubious about buying something electrical from ebay for only £2 though! I think I'd have to sit and watch it to check it didn't catch on fire!!
