to be beating myself up over pregnancy fall?

30 weeks pregnant. I got on my train and could barely move. I was late getting on so didn't get a seat. When I say packed I mean it was like sardines. Everyone looked at me and saw that I was pregnant but nobody wanted to move. I should've asked for a seat but felt okay standing and knew lots of people would get off at the next stop. The train is generally smooth and I really thought I was going to be ok.

Train made an emergency stop and I fell backwards on to my bum, knocking a bag out of a ladies hand in the process. I was holding on, I just don't know what happened. A couple of people helped me up and I'm now sat here shaking, feeling stupid and like a terrible mum for just not asking for a seat.

Baby is kicking as usual so I think he/she is okay.

Not sure what the point of this post is but I'm just feeling like shit and like I put my baby at risk all do I didn't have to go through the anxiety of asking for a seat.

Feel awful Sad

There was no way you could have ever known what would happen so you are in no way responsible for what happened! Maybe call your midwife but please don't blame yourself, you can't predict the future :)

These things happen OP! It wasn't your fault. Emergency stops are rare snd was just sods law it was when you didn't get a seat. You will tell your baby about it one day!

I actually fell down a whole flight of stairs when I was pregnant (moved house and wasn't used to them). I didn't tumble bug kind of slid down on my bum and hurt my hip. Luckily the extra padding meant it was all fine!

I tripped on the kerb and landed on my bump when I was about eight months pregnant with DD1.

She is ten now and practically perfect in every way.

When I was pregnant I slipped down the stairs and landed with an almighty bang on my arse, the pain was unreal! Bruising was huge and I couldn't sit for weeks! That little baby is two now! Try not to worry x

I’m due in a week and have had two falls during this pregnancy (both caused by my own clumsiness). The baby is fine. My obstetrician told me it’s very rare for babies to suffer trauma in utero - in fact, he’d only seen one case in the last few years and that was caused by a serious car accident.
Don’t blame yourself, this was not your fault and your baby is most likely fine. Your body does everything it can to protect your precious cargo. Hopefully the selfish twats on the train have learned a lesson here!

Please don't feel guilty. I fell down a grass bank at around 8 months I looked like a weeble rolling around trying to get up😀 Baby was fine.
I would've hated to ask for a seat too so don't beat yourself up about that either.

Falling when pg brings strong emotions

I had no excuse for looking at Citymapper and tripping in early pregnancy falling on my side - rolled to the side tg

Felt so annoyed with myself and cried in taxi home

But everything was fine and time helped the emotions pass

Try not to feel too bad, and take extra care of yourself

Bless you OP Flowers I took a busy train to and from work throughout pregnancy and quite often didn't get a seat. I did actually email Scotrail to ask why there were regularly only 4 carriages on when 6 were advertised and they said they just didn't have enough! Helpful Confused

PinkHeart5914 · 23/08/2018 11:35

You will be fine, and so will baby he/she is well protected in there. At 30 weeks with my last I slipped due to my stupid socks and new flooring from the top step to the bottom in my house. I felt a bit sorry for myself for a few day and had a cracking bruise but all was fine.

OrangeOrlaith · 23/08/2018 11:38

Thanks everyone. Hardly slept a wink last night. Was obsessively making sure baby was moving even though I know that the likelihood of baby being harmed is almost nil. So tired but seems like baby is ok. My hip and bum hurt a bit though! And so the guilty feeling continues... I feel like not being able to have two big glasses of wine after a stressful day is one of the hardest parts of pregnancy Grin
