To think women have to put up with a lot?

Just generally, aside from major health problems that can obviously affect anyone, women can have years of period pain/associated issues/ hormone hell, pregnancy and childbirth then later menopause. It can all cause a lot of pain discomfort and mental health problems. Men do have it easier on the whole don't they?! I think women minimise it a bit too much. It is hidden especially in the work place where you do just have to get on with work despite possibly feeling like crap a disproportionate amount of time!

Just found myself musing on this today as I have my monthly lower back and hip ache to contend with!Angry

feel, that women's health issues generally aren't taken seriously enough

Men suffer with more mental health issues including AEN although there are weak arguments that women mask these issues somewhat

Doesnt that rather prove the OPs point

Biologically we do, without a shadow of a doubt.

Periods for at least thirty years, contraception is sadly mostly on us and the hormones can be absolutely dreadful, pregnancy if a woman chooses that and possibly abortion if not, childbirth whether it’s an operation or not and then once our childbearing years are over- the menopause! Wonderful! Also miscarriages, ectopics, PCOS, endometriosis etc.

The worst thing men have to deal with is random boners, wet dreams and when they are older, prostate examinations. Maybe condoms too but it doesn’t affect them physically or mentally.

Mentally, however, Male suicide rates are much higher. In part this is because of the horrendous ‘boys don’t cry’ mentality. They find it much harder to admit they are down and to open up to people in general. I also think it’s harder for men to meet women, women are far more fastidious than men in general Grin.

If you are talking globally, women are treated like absolute shit around the world. Women are far more likely to be in poverty.

It's a massive topic. My initial post was really just driven by a sudden realisation that it felt normal for me to be in pain due to periods while I'm trying to get on and function in a busy job, and how much simpler it is for men. No pregnancy birth or complications as a result. I'm not having any more babies but still dealing with contraption choices and weighing up the least worst option, a lot falls to us, and then the next hurdle is menopause! My DH commented recently that after my emcs with my first DC he didn't really take on board the major surgery and fact I was on strong pain killers for a while, and frankly how hard that must have been. Any other time in life you would be more cared for, as a mum your needs are pushed aside. So it's a jumble of thoughts but I do think women do have a lot to contend with. I feel a bit sorry for teenage girls and all that is likely to be ahead of them tbh
