To ask for etiquette when selling on fb

Trying to sell some items from my house, mainly Ikea furniture which is in good condition so pretty popular.

Pattern seems to be;

  • sell item but then buyer tells me they can't collect for several days/can't collect at all and need delivery/ask for a lower price - do you respond and tell them you need it gone and collected at the agreed price? Or do you just not respond?
  • item goes up for sale and then is sold quickly but I have hundreds of messages asking about it - do you reply to them all or just mark it as sold?

Sorry if I'm being dim but honestly never realised it would be such a minefield!

  • if you don't want to deliver just say no and move on to the next buyer. They might be trying out some cheeky fuckery on you
  • i would only answer the first person who said they were interested. If it's sold mark it as such

YOu need to state 'buyer must collect by X time/date'

Mark the add sold subject to collection.

If they mess you about go to the next person/message

Number 1s are CFs, I would say 'collection only at agreed price, if you no longer want this then let me know.' If they can't collect for a few days as long as it's not ages and they come when they say they will then I'll be a bit flexible there. If they keep stalling sod em!

Number 2, just mark it as sold. If they've sent you an enquiry on facebook they will get a notification that it's sold.

In your ad say collection only and by what date. If people then contact saying they want it then say they can't collect until X date or ask for a reduction repeat that it needs to be gone by X date for X price and do they want it or not because you have other interested parties. Give a time limit to respond. Unfortunately some people seem for respond just for the fun of it (happens a lot on Freecycle too).

If only a few people respond I will contact individually but if there is too many responses I just mark as sold.
