Was I unreasonable fo fart in bed?

Ok... so let me explain myself!

Last night I went to bed early feeling unwell, my stomach was bloated and I felt really uncomfortable and unsure why. I suffer with IBS so thought I'd maybe had something that upset my stomach.

3am I woke up with a terrible pain in my stomach which felt like trapped wind. I was in so much pain I didn't even want to move from my bed.

So on advice when this has happened before I got myself into a position to relieve the wind... basically head down ass up! Grin

After a couple of seconds of rocking in this position, I farted! It's never felt so good. Grin

So my DP wakes up from the sound of my large fart and tells me I'm disgusting and won't accept my explanation.

WIBU?

People are so weird. Fuck going to the toilet every time you need a fart at night. OP I would have done the same.

DH and I have no problem farting in front of each other, and despite what I have read above, we do respect each other. I don’t know how anyone can equate respect to a fart.

OftenHangry · 20/08/2018 22:47

I like the
"Relationships are like farts. If you have to push, it's usually shit"
ruleGrin

GrumpyOldMare · 20/08/2018 22:48

Oh stop it! I have to keep taking my glasses off, because I keep laughing so much!!! My son thinks I've totally lost the plot! Childish? Maybe. I've noticed that it seems to be us IBS sufferers that find it the funniest, probably because we can relate to it.

rainbowstardrops · 20/08/2018 23:10

I haven't properly chuckled at a thread for ages but this has had me in stitches!
Firstly, your diagram was awesome!!!!
Secondly, laughing so much at the posters who think its vile etc to fart in front of their loved ones 😂
I honestly sometimes think I live in a parallel universe to some Mners!!!!
Hilarious Grin

Lizzie48 · 20/08/2018 23:40

To those of you who think this is grim and it would be a deal breaker, you admit that you're in a minority. Surely that must tell you that you're the ones being unreasonable here??

It's especially hard to understand how anyone could feel that way after having DC, what with pooey nappies and potty training. Grin

I do agree with one PP, though, I also hate the smell of the bathroom after one of my family has done a number 2, it is rank. I also complain vociferously if my DH doesn't clean the toilet after he's done one.

Readyforapummelling · 20/08/2018 23:42

Honestly, this thread is comedy gold. What makes it even funnier is the posters who are genuinely disgusted.

"I wouldn't want a relationship where somebody shat gas out every 5 minutes" is hysterical.

Aaaahhh I'm living the dream here in my farty little bed and wafty poop clouds.

Muckingfuddle123 · 20/08/2018 23:51

Better out than in 💨

StrangeLookingParasite · 20/08/2018 23:52

Yabu not to have gone to the bathroom imo.
Been with dh for 6 years and he has never heard me fart!!

So much prissyness.

I specialise in garden statuary poses. I'm classy like that.

NotUmbongoUnchained · 20/08/2018 23:54

In 13 years I have never heard my husband fart!!

Me on the other hand... i am a wind tunnel.

LemonysSnicket · 21/08/2018 00:02

It's natural and I've felt that pain and it's horrendous

HappyBumbleBee · 21/08/2018 00:05

"I wouldn't want a relationship where somebody shat gas out every 5 minutes"
Sooooo funny Grin
"better out than in" as my granny used to say lol.
There was another saying too but can't remember the beginning - the end was something like "let the wind break free"?
This has to be one of the funniest threads I've ever read LOL

JaretsGirlfren · 21/08/2018 00:09

I never farted in front of my ExH and now we’re divorced nods sagely

MapMyMum · 21/08/2018 01:11

Omg I just laughed so much I farted and warmed up the bed. Love it! Great diagram and love that dp showed his true (relaxed) colours after all.

SleepingStandingUp · 21/08/2018 01:20

The only fart rule in our house is facing out not in and not on each others side. If he's away on rethought I always threaten that my pumps are going in his side but I wouldn't.... Or should I....

katielouise3 · 21/08/2018 01:23
Biscuit
katielouise3 · 21/08/2018 01:25

You'll be telling us you do fanny farts next.

You foul article......... Hmm

Goes back through thread to look for diagram....... Grin

SleepingStandingUp · 21/08/2018 01:26

What's the biscuit for??

katielouise3 · 21/08/2018 01:26

That's the funniest diagram I have seen on here in AGES. Grin

katielouise3 · 21/08/2018 01:27

I am just messing @sleeping, I was pretending to be disgusted.....I think the thread is funny. Smile

SleepingStandingUp · 21/08/2018 01:34

Ah OK, thought the biscuit was at me. And I'm hungry and on a diet so I can't have any :@

CoughArghCoughArghCough · 21/08/2018 01:52

I feel for you op, I had trapped wind when I was newly pregnant and the pain was unreal. I thought my stomach had ruptured! Midwife was called, who gently explained it was probably just wind as I sobbed down the phone to her. Dh duly ran to buy indigestion medicine which I drank down. About an hour of writhing later I let out the most delicate, gentle puff of air and the pain was relieved. Weirdest thing. I’m glad you found relief any way you could as the pain is horrible!
Ds1 (child of above pregnancy) does noxious farts which we usually pretend to try to catch in an imaginary bag before they kill someone. Fingers crossed he won’t grow up with too much of a complex.

beatmetothebattenberg · 21/08/2018 02:03

Reading this thread in bed cos I can't sleep and lol'd and promptly fartedGrin. Although have been kicked out of my own bed by 'D'H cos I keep "giggling over Mumsnet"

Topseyt · 21/08/2018 02:20

wtf I wouldn't want a relationship where someone openly shat gas out every five minutes. It would make me feel sick

GrinGrin

Comedy gold. Why do people pretend that they don't fart and overreact so massively?

Belina · 21/08/2018 02:23

Lol I'm sure he will forgive you

Topseyt · 21/08/2018 02:47

I remember the "snapped and farted" thread too.

I think that was an OP who was looking for some serious advice, but didn't get it because few of us could get past that comment. They didn't seem to get why it was deemed unusual and that made the whole thread even more hilarious.
