We've done all the usual big stuff in London. AIBU to ask for your recommendations for quirky, little-known things to do with children?

Much recommended on here, but my children loved the Skygarden last week. Also feeding the parakeets in Hyde Park (take an apple, they just land on your arm).

If it's a nice day try hampstead Heath pergola gardens. A hidden gem and a lovely walk.

*fountains aren't ornamental but the wear a costume and splash about kind.
Where are you staying? How long have you got and how old are the kids.
Probably should have asked that first!

DeusEx · 19/08/2018 23:51

I really like watching the pelicans be fed their lunch at St James Park! And then watching changing of the guard at horse guards.

Greenwich Park is a favourite too - and if you have kids lots of space to run and run.

If your kids aren’t squeamish or prone to nightmares, the Hungarian medical museum in Lincoln’s Inn Square is great.

FromNowOn · 19/08/2018 23:55

The Wellcome museum.

I was going to suggest the Hunterian museum but it’s closed.

Battersea Park.
Neasden temple
Crystal Palace park
Kew
Petersham nursery Richmond
Hampstead Heath

Mooching along the South Bank is fun. The last time I did this there was a big Indian festival with food stalls and dance performances etc. You can also check out the skateboarders, look at second hand books, try a myriad of eateries including the National Theatre cafe, outdoor coffee/ hot dog stands, eat a Snog frozen yoghurt from a double decker bus, get on a river cruise, ride a carousel. There is undoubtedly some special events on for the holidays as well which you’lol find details of online. Depending on the ages of the children you might enjoy Shreks Adventures, the IMAX and the London Eye all in that vicinity ( but search for cheaper tickets in advance)

Dulwich park - you can hire recumbent bikes and cycle around the huge circuit. My kids love it and there's a good playground and cafe plus pedalos to hire on the lake.

BabloHoney · 20/08/2018 07:50

Story Centre at Stratford (great if your kids are small)
