If you can afford it and you want to, you don't need the permission of the internet to do this.

Girlsnightin · 19/08/2018 18:11

What's it like at home that makes you need it?
Prior to having kids every night was an opportunity to pamper....

laurzj82 · 19/08/2018 18:13

YANBU! Sounds heaven! Enjoy x

DolorestheNewt · 19/08/2018 18:14

Sounds like a fantastic idea. Crack on.

MyDcAreMarvel · 19/08/2018 18:17

Why though if you are alone anyway?

FoodGloriousFud · 19/08/2018 18:20

We love doing this, and do it regularly. We have massages, enjoy the spa, have a lovely meal, breakfast the next morning and then spend the day together. It's lovely.

AnnieAnoniMoose · 19/08/2018 18:21

I’ve always travelled a lot on my own, I’m very happy with my own company and I need time alone...but there’s something a bit, I don’t know, odd/sad/worrying that only 3/4 miles down the road, which isn’t ‘somewhere new to enjoy’ will make you happy. It feels like your home isn’t a good place for you...

Rebecca36 · 19/08/2018 18:26

You're not being unreasonable. Go for it!

Lovebeingmama · 19/08/2018 18:27

I have a 4 year old and a night alone in a hotel sounds like bliss!
Even if you don’t have kids. It’s an opportunity to just relax, sometimes at home there’s always ‘jobs’ to do. Order room service, relax and see what’s in the mini bar!

walkalongsmiling · 19/08/2018 18:28

Sounds amazing, enjoy!!

Aridane · 19/08/2018 18:30

Why though?

chemenger · 19/08/2018 18:31

There is something very relaxing about time in a nice hotel. At home there is always something that I should be getting on with, in a hotel I can read a book, watch tv and have a drink with no nagging guilt. Lovely. Go for it.

userofthiswebsite · 19/08/2018 18:36

Hotels have air-con, someone who cleans stuff for you, and people who will bring what you want to your room. It's all good.

Ontheboardwalk · 19/08/2018 18:39

Why are you unable to sleep at home?

If you want a pamper session could you go somewhere new rather than up the road?

Dollymixture22 · 19/08/2018 18:42

Go for it. I assume it’s a particular hotel which you want to stay in - it just happens to be local.

I always go a bit further afield in case I know people who are in the hotel - wedding season and all. Then swim, read and enjoy room service. A glass of wine in a hotel is always nicer😊

helpfulperson · 19/08/2018 18:49

I do this occasionally. I think as mentioned above it's that you don't feel you ought to be doing things and there aren't other distracting things going on so you can concentrate on chilling out with a book.

Antigon · 19/08/2018 18:49

Not sure why people are asking why. I love a hotel stay, a change is as good as a rest.

Go for it OP! Make sure they do a lovely breakfast and maybe even an afternoon tea. A hotel with a pool would be even better.

MrsChollySawcutt · 19/08/2018 18:50

If you can afford it, why the hell not!

JuneFromBethesda · 19/08/2018 18:53

God, I would! We went shopping today in a town local to us. Walking from the car park to the shops we passed a new hotel I hadn't seen before, very modern and appealing. I've been fantasising all day about staying there! Alas family commitments and finances mean I'd never do it, but it's a lovely thought ...

user1485342611 · 19/08/2018 18:58

Sounds lovely. Even if you're on your own at home you still feel a bit edgy if you're not 'doing something'. If you sit down with a book you start noticing that the floor could do with a hoover etc.

In a hotel you can just relax and not worry, the pool is a short walk away, dinner and breakfast are served up to you. Lovely.
