CFN & Parking

Sorry - another parking thread! (My first though!)

Ok, background. I live on a new build estate. Every house has allocated parking. Most houses have 1 space, but a couple of us have 2.

Parking has been a nightmare since we moved in. Mainly due to CFN who doesn't drive, but have their numerous visitors park wherever they like.

Several times a week I have to knock on their door and ask them to move their visitors car - which they do, but with no remorse and in their own time.

So I come back this morning to find another car in my 2nd space - again!! I'm fed up keep knocking on their door, so I've left a note and blocked them in.

There's a supermarket car park 60 seconds away, and when I have visitors that's where I tell them to park. I wouldn't dream of telling them to park in neighbours spaces.

I used to have a penguin bollard in that space, until the little shits CFN's children kicked it down and removed it.

I'm at a loss as to what else I can do - AIBU to block this car in? (No idea if it does belong to CFN this time)

Diagram duly attached.

I’m afraid I’d have contacted the police by now if her kids are causing ongoing damage. They’re costing you a lot of money. It’s expensive to fix a car that’s been keyed! Take her to court for the cost of fixing the damage and watch how quickly she suddenly becomes able to discipline them. Also you need a new bollard.

chocolateworshipper · 19/08/2018 12:14

Penguin bollard back up, and one of these (or similar) www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00PSPLWUO/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_1?smid=AWVRU06H2SSRT&psc=1&tag=mumsnetforum-21

Whatsthisbear · 19/08/2018 12:17

I'm curious why your two spaces are separated by NDN2's spaces. Wouldn't it be more logical for you to have the first space in the row next to yours?

Maybe the visitors think they are in her space? Def worth getting a sign

Defrack · 19/08/2018 12:18

Report the damage to the police, no excuse for it, plenty of single mums can control their kids and stop them being little shits, so she can too.

MorningsEleven · 19/08/2018 12:20

Does NDN live in a shed in your back yard?

ShellieEllie · 19/08/2018 12:21

Do they rent the house? If so contact the landlord.

serbska · 19/08/2018 12:22

You’re trying to keep it civil? They keyed your car and broke your bollard!!!

MrsW85 · 19/08/2018 12:25

If her space is empty could you not just park there?

serbska · 19/08/2018 12:26

Can you spray paint house numbers on the floor of the parking spaces?

VelociraptorRex · 19/08/2018 12:37

Love a CFN and parking thread!

EmilyR1984 · 19/08/2018 12:47

I love these threads!

Car still there. No idea if it belongs to CFN or not. May start door knocking shortly. Really need to go out, but don’t want them to get away without me seeing them!

Oh dear. I couldn’t cope with what you have too. Can you move?

DinosHaveBigFeet · 19/08/2018 14:05

Can you get a taxi?

ProfessorMoody · 19/08/2018 14:40

You need to contact the police.

hazell42 · 19/08/2018 15:19

Are you actually using both spaces, OP, or are you one of those people who defend their right to their parking space, no matter what?
You said in an earlier post that you had to ask one of your neighbour's visitors to move his car because you had to go out, and then you spent half an hour in a screaming match with him to 'defend your space'. Personally, I would have said, 'You're welcome to use until I get back at x o clock'.
I had a neighbour once who was obsessed with people parking in 'his' space, even though it was public road and he didn't drive. He had an array of bollards and foamed at the mouth if anyone parked in his spot.
Life is too short. Relax. And for god's sake don't call the police. Even 101 is too busy for parking problems

Drknittingfrog · 19/08/2018 15:58

Hazell42 can I come watch your TV and use your washing machine while you're out? I know you paid for them but you are not using them during that time so I might as well...😁

CrazyDaisy2018 · 19/08/2018 16:35

@Hazell42 - we let our neighbour park on our drive. Their car leaked oil on it and we had to have it professionally cleaned to remove the mark. This is why it would bother me if someone parked in a space I owned, even if I wasn't using it at the time.

Good luck OP - CFN really needs to get a grip!

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 19/08/2018 16:39

@Hazell42 if I've bought a house with two parking spaces then as far as I'm concerned they are for me to use, not the neighbour. Would you seriously do a favour for someone whose children damage your property and doesn't do anything about it? I wouldn't. I'd be calling th3 police not doing a favour!

agedknees · 19/08/2018 17:01

Hazell42 - are you the cfn? Op def report the criminal damage to your car to the police.

GripNeeded · 19/08/2018 17:22

Any update?

Defrack · 19/08/2018 17:26

@hazel. You bought a garden with your house, but if you're not using it, can I just use it for a kickabout?

m4rdybum · 19/08/2018 17:48

Don't agree with letting them use the space, Hazel. Even if the OP isn't using it. You let them use it once and they'll use it every time.

Love a good parking thread.

Tiredtomybones · 19/08/2018 20:20

Yanbu.

WindyScales · 20/08/2018 19:44
