Son 17 car loan from his boss WWYD?

Son just passed his test. He's an apprentice on 5.50ph as not 18 til.nearky Xmas. His boss has offered to buy him.a car ( expecting him to use it on business too) and my son has asked me for a loan to pay the insurance. I've said no as it sounds like his boss is only buying the car so my son can use it for work. IMO his boss should pay for the car AND business insurance. AIBU??

how does he know the boss will give him the right price for the car, or actually get him a car that is a good deal. If you say boss is tight then there is achance he may rip him off

my ex was 'sold' a car by the man he was working for, and it was an absolute pile of shit

later he 'loaned' him another car, but he had to cover all the running costs and because my ex was so naive and wanted to do anything for this conman, he didnt seem to realise that it was actually costing him to work for the sheister. He was cabbing in London. boss was taking all the reciepts and using them against his own tax, and paying him cash for the jobs, but raking in a huge amount in contract work. Ex wasnt too bright and only saw the £££ in hand, didnt account for the outgoings.
