To ask if you remember a book about fighting nightmares

My DD is fighting huge nightmares at the moment. Waking up to 3 times a night in sweats disorientated and confused.

I'm not sure what to do but I remember a book from when i was little about how 5o fight nightmares in your dreams. I can't remember much except one page which was along the lines of "if you're being chased by a swarm of killer bees.... spray paint them silver and blow them out to the sky as stars". Silly scenarios and even sillier solutions.
Anyone help me? Or short of that, suggest any other ideas?

I don't know of your book. However, I do know that if I sleep on my back I have terrible nightmares, guaranteed. If I sleep on my side, I don't. Worth a try?

Ketayuzu · 17/08/2018 21:28

Interesting. If i sleep with my arms crossed I get horrible nightmares. I get pretty horrible nightmares anyway. Maybe its hereditary

Tell her she just needs to call for you because there is nothing in the world scarier than a mummy looking after her daughter!

Google it, it's a thing!

My DS used to have awful dreams, we got him to draw a picture of his nightmare then ripped it up and burnt it in the garden. Did it for two different nightmares and it really did work! (I wonder too if nightmares are hereditary as I have at least 3 per week, now I am older I actually enjoy them sometimes, especially as I have found ways to get away from the monsters).

Probably a ridiculous suggestion but could you show her the boggart scene from Harry Potter? You could use YouTube if she's too young for the film.

Not the one you mean but we have a book called:

What to do when you dread your bed

That is very good.

Interesting ideas and thanks for the book recommendation chem
Shes not good at remembering what they were in the morning and I don't want her to dwell on them- more have the mindset to deal with it at the time. Equally don't want her going to bed thinking shes going to have a nightmare...
turtle thats what she currently does but its exhausting for everyone!
