To feel awful about this

Was in a very big well known shop and saw some toys that DS loves really really cheap. I double checked that the sign referrred to the toys, it did so I bought some and took them to the till.
The toys went through at full price so I mentioned the sign saying they were reduced. The women on the till called a supervisor who went the check and came back saying the wrong label had been put on but they would honour the price shown. I thanked her and the women on the till put them through. When I had finished paying the women on the till hissed at me that the money would be taken from a member of staff wages.
I asked how they would go about choosing the member of staff who’s wages to deduct and she said “it will one of the delivery boys”
I just walked off at this point, if she had said something before the transaction went through I would have prob said to leave them. Feel guilty now that a member of staff my have their wages deducted

Ridiculous comment, plus the ‘delivery boy’ would bring it to the warehouse. It would be unpacked by someone, put onto the shelf by someone and the price label put on by possibly another person so pinning a price error down to delivery driver is ridiculous.
Plus it just wouldn’t happen she was probably jealous of your bargains x

Email the shop manager. Or tweet, if it's a chain.

AlpacaLypse · 16/08/2018 21:42

Woman on till is talking out of her arse. Heaven knows why. Don't let it ruin your day. No one will have their wages deducted for this mistake with shelf/price tags, it's impossible to show which of the staff made the error.

GnomeDePlume · 16/08/2018 21:44

It could be that she believe's this. Someone has got the wrong end of the stick somewhere along the way.

Ginslinger · 16/08/2018 21:44

is this a madeup story?

Anasnake · 16/08/2018 21:45

Was she responsible for the wrong labelling and is therefore going to get a bollocking so is projecting ??

pinkorchids · 16/08/2018 21:48

Total rubbish

Howhot · 16/08/2018 21:56

That's total BS and honestly the only motivation for it I can see was to make you feel bad. I'd ask the manager about it

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 16/08/2018 22:13

Delivery boy? It’s not the 1930s
That cracked me up Grin

JeSuisPrest · 16/08/2018 22:26

Is that you Granville? Grin

TokyoSushi · 16/08/2018 22:30

Well, that's weird!

GoldilocksAndTheThreePears · 16/08/2018 22:45

Absolute bollocks. There is no way any company could keep staff or not have a national outrage if they point out a random staff member at end of shift and say 'customer paid £3.50 less for a mispriced item so it's coming off monday's hours'. If there was even the slimmest chance it would be some kind of poor-practice fee levied at the person on the till and/or the manager who signed it off.

The only time I've come across this, was something about servers at certain restaurants having to pay out of tips for any diners who did a runner on the bill, basically as punishment for not stopping them.

Bimgy85 · 16/08/2018 23:11

Lol she's lying just to make you feel bad. Don't worry. That won't be happening

CSIblonde · 17/08/2018 00:44

Gibberish. She was peeved you got a bargain due to their error. Then when you challenged her on choosing employee to dock the £ from she panicked & said first thing that came into her head: 'the delivery boys'. I'd speak to a manager, customer service is not for her if that's her usual reaction to stuff that prob happens all time.

Raspberryberetthekindyoufind · 17/08/2018 02:08

Yep Wilko
I was a huge bargain and I half expected the shop not to honour it but they did. The women on the till seemed really mad with the supervisor when she said to put it through.

Also not sure why I would be making this up? Report me if you think that
