So Meg of Sheffield paid £14.99 for a piece of Staffordshire pearlware. It sold at auction for £600. Her friend says they'll be having a party, presenter Paul Martin, thoroughly over-excited, squawks 'Think of the MONEY!' twice.
However it was bought in a charity shop, AIBU to think there might have been some mention of a possible donation. The volunteer who priced it and the supporter who donated it to the charity must be shocked.
Maybe it's just me but it seemed sad.

Completely agree. Doesn't seem right. Hopefully they'll go back and make a donation to the charity.

Maybe they do say that it it gets edited out?

Clionba · 16/08/2018 19:27

Do you know, that occurred to me. I've come across that before. In all honesty it's a bit mean profiting like that. They would not have edited out a reference to giving the charity a cut.

To me, the item was in the shop to be sold and they got the expected price for it. The buyer can do what they want with their purchase. Just because you use a charity shop doesn't mean you wholeheartedly support the charity and maybe they wouldnt want to give that charity a large amount. They already paid a for the goods. Maybe they will spend more money in the shop and maybe they will have a blow out in the pub. Their money ,their choice.
