To be annoyed with the nurse practitioner

I know the nhs is stretched, I know that there is little money in it right now for minor things but I believe the GP surgery have completely fobbed off my DD just because they can't be bothered.
My DD has constantly either got diahorrea or is constipated. She's only just turned two and this has been the norm since birth really. I used to worry it was her formula but nothing I did eased it when she was a baby. Doctors told me then to wait see if things got better when she was off formula and they obviously haven't.
I took her in last week and was told to come back with a food diary for the week and see if there's anything.
We've just left after being told her case isn't severe enough for any form of treatment and to just keep an eye on her. I've been doing that for 2 years. Some days her bottom is so sore she screams when I clean her and apply creams/ointments. Some days she's so bloated and constipated I have to help her pass stools.
I'm just at my wits end now, I don't know what else I can do for her. I've tried cutting out dairy, saturates, bread etc. I just want to know if she has an allergy or something more serious and they won't help us.

Poor you. Do you think the diahorrea might actually be due to constipation? Does she withhold stools due to past pain? If so movicol might be helpful.

It's a constant cycle, it's been since she was a new born and she doesn't hold poos in because of pain. I don't want to become dependant on laxatives because one week she has constipation, one week she has the runs and then it just starts again!

I'd try the movicol first and see if it makes her regular. The dins often fooled a bout of constipation. My dd had issues like yes and it caused her bladder to irritate too. We thought she has urine infections but it was all down to constipation after going private consultation

She is in movicol but gradually weaning her off now She only has 1/2 sachet a day Will eventually do down to every other day etc.

If honestly try it and if it doesn't work insist on blood tests for cealiac etc.

Read the ERIC website and google the Poo Nurses. Read and listen to the Poo Nurses' videos all the way through.
I am assuming you haven't already done this.
Once you are up to speed with the information you will be able to go back to the GP and hopefully get a plan in place.
I doubt the NP will be able to offer any help as your child is so young.
The food and poo diary is essential though so keep gojng with that.

Sounds very much like how my daughter was and that was all caused by constipation. She was prescribed lactulose and there was never an issue with her becoming dependant, it just helped her until the problem passed which was just before her 4th birthday. You are worried about dependancy rather than thinking how much it will help her.
