ok it's late on Sunday not the best time to get a debate goinging, however my post about the BNP dropped like a stone off active cons with no reply. Are people so caught up in their narrow worlds that racism can slip through so easily unnoticed?
I thought that although the march wasn't relevant to many that the news story might get some debate going

www.gazetteandherald.co.uk/news/corshamheadlines/display.var.1438331.0.antibnp_protesters_organise_rally.php

I will be going to this demo against the BNP I feel they should be opposed at every stage. Thought I'd post on here incase any local MN wanted to come too.
The message board for this local rag seems to have draw alot of BNP support so if you want to balance the arguement please post your feelings

VeniVidiVickiQV · 03/06/2007 23:21

Oh, lulu - I keep meanng to ask you.

You posted something the other week about there being a line or something when a woman is ready to 'push', even if she doesnt seem fully dilated. Can you explain please?

VeniVidiVickiQV · 03/06/2007 23:22

shoulders? Were you going strapless?

Dogsby · 03/06/2007 23:25

Pan · 03/06/2007 23:26

Topless, honey...well today anyway...next door.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 03/06/2007 23:30

you slut!

Sunburn is never a good look - or feel. Unfortunately I was feeling particularly stubborn and ignored DP's request that I put on some sun lotion. Was too busy tending to my garden.

Pan · 03/06/2007 23:31

That's what next doors said...just jealous I reckon....

lulumama · 04/06/2007 08:31

it was something Mars told me about...a crease that appears in a woman;s back when she is in labour...and the reason it came up,is that you can see it clearly in FA;s birth picture....! I had not heard of it before, but Mars knows all about it ! I saw it with my client last week , it is really amazing..

cathcart · 04/06/2007 08:57

a purple line ?

plummymummy · 04/06/2007 09:04

We got a flyer for the National Front posted through our door last year so I ran outside to see if the poster was still in the road. Couldn't see him/her for dust. Was going to invite them in for a discussion on whether they still wanted our support (dh black) Would love to see them splutter. Bastards

nogoes · 04/06/2007 09:23

I never saw the original thread, sorry! Just read the link, does that mean that the BNP candidate got in because there was noone standing against him? Shame on the people of Corsham if that is the case, perhaps this might force them to get off of their apathetic (is that a word?) backsides and do something, I doubt it though.

SueW · 04/06/2007 09:39

purple line or rhomboid of michaelas?

SueW · 04/06/2007 09:41

michaelis even

filthymindedvixen · 04/06/2007 09:51

I am very politically and socially active in RL. If I had seen the original thread I might have commented as the BNP were targetting my town very heavily in our local elections. (IIRC, they stood for 14 out of 16 seats but got nowhere, just 800 odd votes.)
MN is where I come to get advice, let off steam and piss about generally. I rarely do 'heavy' stuff on here as RL is heavy enough IYKWIM.

I hope you can rally up more support in your hometown, which is, after all, where it matters most.

matilda57 · 04/06/2007 09:56

No I don't think you're being unreasonable. You said how you felt - fair enough - you're disappointed. I don't think you pointed any fingers. I also wonder why people feel compelled to post bitchy/unsupportive posts on a support site.

SueBaroo · 04/06/2007 12:18

I don't get it. The BNP are fairly odious, for sure, but we live in a liberal democracy - we beat ideas we disagree with with reasoned argument, not by getting them banned.
Give 'em enough rope, and all that.

plummymummy · 06/06/2007 15:29

I don't actually agree with that. I don't think any parties who not only exclude minority groups but actively seek to prevent them being part of British culture should be allowed to stand election. In the same way, I don't agree with (for example) extremist moslem groups who encourage fundamentalism which incites followers to cause harm to others. I am also intensely irritated by the government's intention to bring in this notion of what it is to be british in order to educate immigrants. How banal and patronising. I saw on the news one of the areas of focus was "good neighbours". Ffs, wouldn't it be good to encourage that in Brits first before preaching it to other communities. We are lucky - we have great neighbours but I have had some awful ones too and as I have said before, many of us don't want to be too close to our neighbours. We like to say we have nice neighbours, but we don't want them to pop in for a cup of tea as that would be considered rather intrusive. Sad but true.
