Alone at lunchtime

We have recently moved business premises and I am the only one in the office so can't go out for lunch and have no one to chat to (I'm a chatty person). There is another office next door (same owner, different company which I used to work for so know all the staff & I usually go there at lunchtime) where they are all sitting chatting for lunchtime - AIBU to think one of them could have popped in to see me for a chat/coffee/make sure I'm not dead?

I used to hate it anytime I was on my own and people came in ‘to check on me because I was ‘on my lonesome.’ I thought FFS I’m a grown woman. I thought it was really over the top and hate that kind of OTT behaviour.

in general*

‘But I stand by my original assessment that they're just inconsiderate twats & when I see them later on the way to the car park & speak to them about it they'll agree with me & admit they just didn't think grin’

Because the world revolves around you OP? I think they’ll see you as the baby of the building if you start complaining in the carpark about ‘being checked upon.’

@leftonmytodd sounds like the boss doesn't like you much. What's the point in paying someone for a whole day just in case the phone might ring ?with no other work to do or the possibility to do so. It just seems very petty to me and a waste of money.

leftonmytodd · 15/08/2018 15:52

My boss is very petty & no he doesn't like me very much anymore but it's a long story & involves sexual harassment & me refusing to continually allow him to circumvent the law regarding various aspects of both businesses - hence almost all staff looking for other work.

But never mind just over 2 hours to go & I can remind these eejits next door that the world revolves around me... unless boss fucks off early in which case I'll go scavenging for food Wink

Have you survived the day OP?

MissionItsPossible · 15/08/2018 19:09

The more replies you post the more immature and self-centred you sound.

leftonmytodd · 15/08/2018 19:42

Yes @ShinyMe I survived the day but it was a very long & very boring day!

I have packed the iPad & lunch for tomorrow just in case but knowing my luck everyone will be in & I won't get to read as I'll be rushed off my feet.

ShinyMe · 15/08/2018 19:54

Well I'm confused now! You complained that you don't like being on your own and having not enough to do, but now you're suggesting that you don't want to have lots of people around you and lots to do?

leftonmytodd · 15/08/2018 19:56

I just meant because I'm prepared for being on my own I most likely won't be & it'll be business as usual tomorrow.

OP posts:
PasstheStarmix · 15/08/2018 19:58

Than you’ll have nothing to complain about than.

PasstheStarmix · 15/08/2018 19:59

tomorrow*
