To ask about MFP

Has anyone ever used MFP and managed to lose weight?
I've used it in the past but never stuck to it for long.

So tell me, before I start religiously entering every morsel of food, is it worth it?

YES. Yes yes yes yes yes. That is all.

FASH84 · 15/08/2018 11:22

Yes, it works if you use it accurately and enter everything you eat and drink. I used it about six years ago to lose about four stone, it helped me get back on track when I put a little bit back on, half a stone at one point, and I've kept it off until I fell pregnant recently. I'll be using it again after I've had the baby. I also use map my walk and map my run to monitor non gym exercise

Yep, I use it, really recommend it. Lost almost two stone. Definitely worth it. Much more normal way of eating instead of SW or WW etc.

PatrickTheStarfish · 15/08/2018 11:27

Ooh, some fab losses there!

I'm so fed up with my roundness.
I weight 11st 3lb, 5 foot 4 (ish, maybe a smidge under) and I'm very rotund. Size 14 mostly.

I have HUGE boobs, skinnyish legs and all my weight goes on my top half, mainly my stomach and back (ew).

So MFP could realise my dream of losing 2 stone? HmmGrin

What calories did you all stick to?

Absolutely yes - helped me lose 3 stone!

ReachOutAndTouchDave · 15/08/2018 11:36

Mine is 1500 but with exercise it normally goes up to 1750 roughly. It's given me a good idea of where my calories need to be throughout the day and means I know not to snack in front of the tv at night. Definitely worth it.

FASH84 · 15/08/2018 11:48

I stuck to 1250 plus exercise three times a week and one cheat meal at weekends. I do have PCOS and am insulin resistant thigh so gain weight very easily, you might be ok with slightly more calories

FASH84 · 15/08/2018 11:49

Advice was for weight loss, 1500-1600 maintenance, and would eat what I fancied at weekends within reason as long at I was getting to the gym three times a week

ShotsFired · 15/08/2018 11:55

I lost 5 stone with MFP.

I am now on round 2 with it some years later, but it does work.

ShotsFired · 15/08/2018 11:56

I am stuck with 1200 for max weight loss. I exercise most days but still try and stay under my 1200 and keep the "bonus" cals out of it.

PatrickTheStarfish · 15/08/2018 12:11

Thanks everyone, definitely going to give it a go. Wish me luck! I would feel so much better if I shifted this weight... I'd like to feel like the old me, rather than this person I don't recognise.

It's given me 1200 calories to play with.

I have lost 2 stone in 4 months (so far) with religious tracking on MFP. However, I do not use the calorie allowance it gives you on there as it is generally too low - the diet plan I am on, based on your weight, would give you 1700 calories to have each day. I have consistently lost 2lb a week (give or take the odd blip/holiday) on 2300 calories... I am not sure what MFP would give me as I have manually changed the daily calorie allowance but it would be a lot less than 2300.

Look for Team RH on Facebook - it h is amazing!!

Mumski45 · 15/08/2018 12:46

Yes I lost 2 and half stone in three months about 4 years ago and have managed to keep most of it off. In using MFP regularly I became much more aware of what I could eat lots of and what would soon rack up the weight gain and also the impact that regular exercise would have.

I would definitely say go for it but you do need to be honest with yourself and for a while it can be a pain weighing things and putting in recipes.
