To use vinyl flooring in my kids bedrooms?

As the total says really. I'm getting a fair amount of work done on my house and all the flooring will need replacing. I'm thinking vinyl will be easier to keep clean in the kids rooms. It's also softer, warmer and quieter than laminate or wood. Maybe a reflection on my slovenly ways but I'm trying to minimise the use of carpet as I find it a dust and general dirt trap, especially behind beds.

I was thinking of bright and fun like this - www.flooringsuperstore.com/blush-indigo-glow.html

So AIBU as it will look cheap and naff. Or have I come up with a brilliant, functional, cost effective solution!!

I’m not a fan of your choice but it’s a brilliant and practical flooring for kids rooms. And eliminates dust and moth invasions.

Bear in mind the floor prep can be more expensive than carpeting.

I think it can look very institutional if done “wrong”.

We have vinyl in all the bedrooms upstairs, we did DD’s room first to help with her asthma and then liked it so much we did the rest
It’s wood effect though, not sure about the bright blue

I would if I wasn’t renting. But then I hate carpets with a passion!

Kids are dirty and it would be so so easy to keep vinyl clean.

I'd put a rug in to 'cozy' it up a bit...

I think it’s a fine idea, as long as there’s a rug or two to make it cosy.

I’m looking at vinyl for the kids playroom at the minute and I love the idea of something fun like these:

Not loving the price but I’m sure there’s cheaper options out there so using this as inspiration.

Wood effect vinyl with a rug to add some warmth would be nice. I'm not keen on that colour of vinyl. But that's my personal taste, I prefer neutral for flooring and brighter colours for the stuff that's cheaper and easier to change. You often need flooring screeded or plywood laid before vinyls go down, which as a PP mentioned, can add to the cost.

They are gorgeous ThereRNoMirrorsInTheSerengeti. I'd not thought about the prep which looks a bit of a faff. Looks like I'd need a layer of ply over my uneven floorboards.

I do agree that a neutral or wood-effect colour looks better (to my eyes anyway)

Not a fan of brightly coloured or patterned floors. Feels like you’re walking on the walls.
