There is a large park/nature reserve local to us. We often take the children for walks. They lock the gates in the eve at 'dusk' and I find this incredibly anxiety causing. Wtf is dusk its too fucking general. What if I get locked in. Too much vagueness. Too much anxiety. Just say a specific time

It’s not possible for one person to lock multiple gates at one time so dusk covers the area of time when it’s getting dark. That person may have to also cover several locations with several gates each.

It’s normal!

Our park locks the car gates pretty swiftly and leaves the pedestrian gates for longer. There's also a big one way turnstile thing at one of the the gates so you're never locked in

Do you have a smart phone with a weather app? Mine tells me what time dusk is relative to sunset (about 30 minutes later). So, as long as you are heading out of the park by sunset, you should be fine. And you can check each day before you set off.

Great response to some fairly snide responses OP Grin

The London park near where I lived once closed at 'dusk' but had stated times on the website. 15 mins before that time a park can would drive around the park with a loudspeaker, announcing the imminent closure of the park. I don't know if they still do that but it was a nice idea. Only one gate was manned after the closure time (and was left open a little longer) so if you found one gate closed you had to head to this particular one. Only happened to me once!
