To put 2yo to bed without any tea?

Well we've had a full on few days with no naps and late nights with family visiting, Ds has been very cranky today too so he is obviously pooped.

I just came out of the kitchen with his tea and he was asleep on his little arm chair, still with his wellies on 😂

I didn't know what to do for the best so I put him to bed..... What would you have done?
I'm just worried we are in for an awful wakeful night and he will be hungry later on. Anybody done the same? What happened?x

Just be prepared in case he does wake up hungry.

SisterNotCisTerf · 14/08/2018 18:12

He’ll probably wake later. I’d give him some porridge or toast when he does.

BifsWif · 14/08/2018 18:12

I would have put him to bed too.

I did it once with my DD around the same age, she slept all night but woke up a bit earlier the next morning asking for breakfast.

ShackUp · 14/08/2018 18:12

2yo DS2 does this. Let him sleep and give him a slap-up breakfast!

SnowyAlps · 14/08/2018 18:13

Put him to bed. If he wakes him give him some toast or cereal. Ds1 used to do this occasionally and he would sleep right through.

sexnotgender · 14/08/2018 18:14

Definitely let him sleep, some toast or weetabix later if he wakes.

lizzlebizzle33 · 14/08/2018 18:18

Thank you, I'm glad your saying toast or cereal as I would probably have tried to give him a proper tea like an idiot! Good advice MNers thanks.x

I was ready to be outraged at someone putting their toddler to bed hungry as punishment!

Hope he sleeps through for you Smile

EyeDrops · 14/08/2018 18:46

Yeah I'd do the same, bed then ready with some cereal/rice-cake/toast just to fill the gap if she did wake up hungry. Nine times out of ten she'd just needed the sleep and slept right through!

icelollycraving · 14/08/2018 18:50

I was about to give you a bollocking for letting a toddler go to bed hungry. Let him sleep but be aware he may get a second wind when you are just crashing out. Good luck!!

NotUmbongoUnchained · 14/08/2018 18:52

I always wake mine up for tea if they fall asleep.

TrueLiesAndAll · 14/08/2018 18:55

Mine have done it occasionally over the years and I just put them to bed.

GinAfterBedtime · 14/08/2018 18:57

Ah, the image of him snoozing in his chair with his wellies on is so sweet!

I think you've done the right thing. Sometimes they just crash out and I think it's best to just go with it. Hope he has a great sleep and feels better tomorrow.

Treaclepie19 · 14/08/2018 18:58

Just go with it, he'll let you know if he's hungry I'm sure of it :)

Camomila · 14/08/2018 19:05

Oh bless him, mine does this sometimes. I try to nudge him awake but it doesn't work.
He usually wakes up later for milk and a digestive biscuit and then has a huge breakfast.

BifsWif · 14/08/2018 19:18

lizzlebizzle33 · 14/08/2018 19:37
