To think I have been permanently scarred by laser hair removal? What can I do?

Hi there pics attached.
Recently had hair removal in a totally reputable place where I have been multiple times without any issues. They use the "alexandrite laser" apparently the best?
Well

I was burnt and didn't know until I got home.
Just in time for holiday so I could not wear a bikini, swimsuit without being covered.

I've been told it's hyper pigmentation.
Is this true? I had scabs and cuts!!
It was awfully sore.

I don't know what to do to get rid of the marks.

Pics are from today. It happened a month ago.
Don't know what to do I am devastated.

Bio Oil might help. It definitely reduces hyper-pigmentation caused by sun damage, the old lady spots on the backs of my hands have faded loads since I've been using it.

It's good for many types of scars too, so worth a try.

Scarydinosaurs · 14/08/2018 15:33

Are these the only marks, or is it all over your legs?

mightbemarkedforever · 14/08/2018 15:36

Only there and a few more paler ones slightly lower

I am afraid bio oil might not cut the mustard but it's worth a try

She used the phrase caught my skin and something like I'm sorry I should have realised when I put the setting in the machine

It's burnt isn't it?? I am 25 years old. I don't want those forever.

Should they be covering the cost of some sort of scar repair cream?

It's annoying because I broke my phone recently and lost photos of the actual wounds but I did use what's app to message her so presumeably she still has the pics and knows deep down she's scarred me

It's a scar or is hyper pigmentation the same as a scar

I can see a lot of information on suing.

I have got scars as bad as the people suing but do their scars go away that is what I care about!!

Please anyone have any comments?

Have you sought a medical opinion about them?
Not sure you have much of a case for suing, tbh, as it has not impacted work, social life, finances, etc.

I mean no offence but they really don't look bad.

Lifeisabeach09 · 15/08/2018 21:04

Also, do have to sign a form before treatment saying that burning and hyperpigmentation may occur?

DPotter · 15/08/2018 21:10

Sadly this demonstrates that there is no 'invasive' procedure that is totally risk free. Burning & hyperpigmentation are known possible side effects even in the hands of proficient practitioners.

Hyperpigmentation is not the same as a scar.

I know you think the area is really awful but it isn't and after only a month there is still time for the skin to settle down.

I don't think you would be successful in taking this to law

mightbemarkedforever · 15/08/2018 21:49

Don't feel the photos show how dark the marks are
I don't want to wear a swimsuit in public :(

No not that I recall but I signed it three years ago !!

I used to work at a clinic that offered this and yes that looks like hyper pigmentation to me. It almost definitely will fade over time but you need to ensure the therapist who treats you when you eventually resume treatment knows that the level used on the machine this time was too high.

CSIblonde · 15/08/2018 21:59

Hyper fade £34.95 works on hyper pigmentation. If it's a scar, E45 wash, vitamin e oil and almond oil work really well. (had a boss with v bad scars from barbecue accident)

mightbemarkedforever · 15/08/2018 22:04

I'm going to try the cream
Can I resume treatment with these marks

It's not my fault is it ? :(

Bloody hell

We do laser hair removal and have it cleared up in 6 treatments on average. Their machine must be very very old fashioned.

Please go and see your GP for advice on Hp/burn diagnosis. My gut says caused by treating damaged skin but a GP needs to look

9amTrain · 15/08/2018 22:47

Hyperpigmentation isn't permanent scarring and does fade over time or with treatments to speed up the process I.e. gentle skin peels.

It's actual scar tissue and loss of pigment that would be a problem but yours doesn't seem to be that.

9amTrain · 15/08/2018 22:51

I'd agree in seeing your GP.

What advice have the clinic given you?

mightbemarkedforever · 16/08/2018 10:24

For god sake
I'm devastated. Will go see them.

Sorry I had 4 treatments then I stopped as I got pregnant and I was unwell so only went back for 5th treatment 3 years later approx and that was last month it that makes sense

I'm really worried
The skin is dented in and purple
