I would like any suggestions please.

My son was born in 02/01 so we decided that instead of having a birthday party for him on that day which is abit inconvenient as it's after a bank holiday and most people are back at work, we would have a party exactly 6 months after his birthday. Now has anyone else done this and what did you do regarding a birthday cake? He is going to be 2 1/2 this year so we thought this would be a could time to start the tradition.

I think it's a great idea. My dd is a Christmas Eve baby, and I think the idea of a slightly toned down birthday, with a party in the summer is great. I also never wanted a child that near Christmas, was due the end of Jan, but sometimes things are just out of your hands!

We're having DS's party 2 weeks before his birthday as he starts school on his 5th birthday. That way, his friends can come and there's he's not had too much on with starting school.

my friend does this for her birthday and every year she has to explain to new friends why she is doing it - and now her dd has to start explaining too!

i do think it is a bonkers idea - have a party in jan and everyone will be delighted as the weather is grim and everyone is bored so a party will be lovely

in the summer, everyone has parties - my dd4 goes to one most weekends so you will also get clashes/people away/on holiday/at weddings etc

sorry - my friend does it for her dd (not herself!)
