AIBU To do this on my own?

I've been with my 'd'p for 6 years, lived together for 5 and have a 2 year old son. A couple of weeks ago I realised I was pregnant. Told partner who went mental! Shouted and screamed at me, accused me of trying to trap him- we live together and already have one son! I took my son and went to my mums on Saturday for a planned weekend visit. Got home last night and there's a note from my partner, he doesn't want another baby, can't handle it, and he's left me and gone home (he is originally from another county).
AIBU to say fuck him! He was lucky to have me and our son and clearly doesn't deserve us! I'm panicking about doing this by myself, raising two children, paying for everything. I'll have to work, the house is in my name, all the bills need to be paid. I think I just need someone to tell me I can do this! Someone please tell me I can do this?

What a scummy man

You are better off alone

Lellikelly26 · 13/08/2018 21:20

You can do it. He’s not up to having a family and won’t change. This is probably the last thing on your mind now but you will meet someone else, there are plenty of decent men out there.
In terms of managing on your own, it sounds as if you may have family support

MummySparkle · 13/08/2018 21:21

Of course you can do this. There are times when it's going to be a bit tough, but you will have two beautiful babies and they will get you through everything. You sound like you'll be better off without him

Figlessfig · 13/08/2018 21:22

Good riddance to him. Nasty fucker. You can do this. Women have been doing this since time immemorial. Not saying it’ll always be easy, but you can do it.

Be sure to get child maintenance off him, mind.

TheMotherofBears · 13/08/2018 21:23

You can do this OP! The fact that you want to and realise he was lucky to have you speaks volumes. Good luck Flowers

Singlenotsingle · 13/08/2018 21:23

He doesn't deserve you. Forget him.

Pinkvoid · 13/08/2018 21:25

What a horrible man.

I can strongly picture him returning with his tail between his legs in a week or so... they usually do. If he does, don’t accept him back. After this stunt, he doesn’t deserve it.

redastherose · 13/08/2018 21:36

Yes you can do this. Probably easier doing it alone than dealing with such a waste of space. You will be entitled to some benefits and child maintenance (if you can get any out of him from wherever he's scuttled back to). Go and see citizens advice and check what you are entitled to.

user1471503198 · 13/08/2018 21:56

Thanks everyone, I think I just need to get my head around it all? At the moment I don't know where he is, he said he'd left but I have no way of knowing? Can I claim maintenance if he's in another country?

Pink- don't worry, even if he does come back, he's definitely not coming back to me!

You can definitely do this!

And you should certainly pursue maintenance, though if he actually has gone abroad, it's unlikely you'll see any.
