An achievement I got was brought up in conversation and the conversation went this

Colleague 1 - did you really? Wow that’s amazing.

Colleague 2 - not being funny colleague 1 but she still ended up doing the same job as you.

Hi, I think a bit more information may be needed here Kart, unless I'm being a bit thick, if so, apologies!

ShirleyPhallus · 13/08/2018 18:15

More info needed!

C0untDucku1a · 13/08/2018 18:16

Ive heard my mum say similar about her friend’s child who was sent to private school but does the same
Job as me. It is rude.

SaoirseTheSeahorse · 13/08/2018 18:16

Is it a degree?

FannyCornforth · 13/08/2018 18:17

Ok, I get it. it is rude, I suppose. One shouldn't be defined solely by one's job. Your accomplishments should be recognised.

AssassinatedBeauty · 13/08/2018 18:18

It seems rude. It could be a clumsy attempt to make the other colleague without the achievement feel better, but if said in front of you then it's a bit off.

Shampooeeee · 13/08/2018 18:18

Depends if the achievement was a PhD in a subject related to your work or something completely unrelated eg an Olympic medal for synchronised swimming.

Pebblesandfriends · 13/08/2018 18:18

Sounds like banter to me

MyDirtyLittleSecret · 13/08/2018 18:19

Ouch! But also meh. I'd just ignore, some people just have to bring others down a peg.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 13/08/2018 18:19

Really rude! Sour grapes, flat out jealousy.

Unless your first colleague had gone into embarrassing fawning mode, in which case, fair comment, it might have stop the squirming!!

SimonBridges · 13/08/2018 18:19

So someone said
Person a ‘Kart got a first you know’
Person b ‘did you Kart well done.’
Person c ‘well you are doing the same job as me and I got a third.’

Bestseller · 13/08/2018 18:22

Anything that starts "not being funny" is almost certainly intended to be rude.

Howhot · 13/08/2018 18:28

They knew exactly how rude it would sound and said it anyway. It wasn't a nice thing to say

Kartrashian · 13/08/2018 18:51

I can be a sensitive soul, so I try to take things with a pinch of salt but ... genuinely felt hurt by that comment. Just felt Unnecessary.

OP posts:
MyDirtyLittleSecret · 13/08/2018 18:56

It was unnecessary, that's the point, it had no purpose but to sting, OP. That's not a nice person and now they've shown you who they are you treat them accordingly.

Workplace, be polite and professional re work matters otherwise keep them at a distance.

SomeKnobend · 13/08/2018 18:57

It sounds funny to me, but I suppose that depends what it was about. Also what's funny coming from a friend or someone you like can be rude and irritating from someone who you don't like or don't know very well. Context is important here.

HotblackDesiatoto · 13/08/2018 19:16

Depends on what went before, doesn;t it?
