Revenge porn. Could I lose my job??

Hello.

Just a quick question because I'm going out of my mind with worry here. I've done something really stupid.. to cut a long story short I sent some one an explicit picture of myself (he sent some of him to me too) and now I'm massively regretting it Blush I asked him to delete it and after a little persuasion he said he did.. now I'm worried that he hasn't and even more so that he may upload it onto the internet.. I have no real reason to think he would do this. I guess I'm just being paranoid but it still a possibility isn't it?? I've been so stupid.
My biggest worry is, if he does that and my employer came across it would/could they sack me for it?? I need and love my job. Sad I work in the UK.

Before anyone says.. I know how stupid I've been and will 100%, NEVER do it again.

Thank you (please be nice I feel like crap right now)

Lot of rubbish on this thread. If you were in public office then yeah, probably. If you were wearing your employer's uniform, maybe.

Absolutely if you had used a company device or premises etc, yes (and I've sacked people for that). If you have somehow mentioned the company, yes.

But just a photo of you in the internet? They would have no grounds to sack you. Yeah, if they wanted to get rid of you and pay you off, they might, but if they wanted to do that they don't need to trawl the internet looking for photos, they just need to tell you.

Usual protocol is photo of the face, photo of the body, NOT in the same photo. :).

Much of the above is pointless scaremongering.

That isn't what happens though.
What actually happens is an idiot guy posts on the internet with the intention of 'revenge'. He sets about making sure colleagues and friends see it, which then directly impacts work. Firms then panic and get rid.

They don't go trawling for the trouble, the trouble arrives at their office.
It's rare that it happens, but when it does, this is the scenario.

The other scenario, which is not about revenge, is the bragging boyfriend passing around the image and it ends up 'doing the rounds' with mutual friends. Highly embarrassing.

There are countless examples of revenge porn victims who have lost their jobs. It would take you a matter of minutes to find them. It isn't 'right', but it happens.
