To ask whether this needs a GP appointment/just physio?

Dd is 20 - she's at uni and home for the rest of the summer.

For the past 3-4 weeks she's had some pain in her left hip - mostly just a feeling of low level discomfort, but every now and then, when she puts a bit more pressure on it than usual (e.g. Standing up, sitting down), it gets very painful.

Yesterday we were on a bus - as we were sitting at the back, when we needed to get off we got up as the bus was still moving to walk to the front. This meant that she was putting a lot of pressure on her hip to stay balanced, and she said she felt a sharp jolt of pain in her hip joint.

Normally, if someone in the family has a painful knee/back whatever, we just pay up front for a few private physio sessions, but I'm slightly more concerned about this because dd was born with DDH (or CDH as it was then called) in her left hip - so the same hip she's having the pain in. She was diagnosed at birth and put in a Pavlik's harness pretty much immediately for 12 weeks, and all seemed to be fine. She was discharged formally at the age of 7 after a final x ray.

But now I'm wondering whether this hip pain could be linked to the dysplasia? Is this worth taking up the GP's time, or should we wait and see if the problem continues/pay for a physio appointment?

I work as an NHS physio in GP practice.I would get your DD to see her GP first, they may want to do a check X-RAY initially.Good luck
