I need new towels. DH and I have had our trusty old bath towels for donkeys years but they’re the best ever - soft, big, absorbent...

But the time has come for new ones, the old ones are getting embarrassing.

Recommendations please for best places to buy towels that will fulfil all my criteria?!

I have m&s and next. Both ok but not fluffy clouds. I want the fluffy clouds

John Lewis's quick drying ones are really good

Lands End Supima towels are fabulous. We've had our set for aboiut 10 years and they're still lovely and soft. They're hugely popular in the US and I see that they're now selling them in the UK:

I have a lovely zero twist one from Dunelm. Absolutely dreamy

I bought Christy towels based on MM recommendations about 6 years ago. The colour is still great but they have gone just as crispy and flat as my old cheapo ones did. I wouldn't spend the money on them again.

John Lewis - we bought white towels 10 years ago and they are just as lovely as ever

Debenhams and Soak & Sleep

Another vote for Christy's. TK Maxx often has them.
If you're buying JL ones, go for egyptian cotton.
I got an egyptian cotton hand towel from Aldi for £1. Not used it yet.
I have a Primark one that is ok but it's a hand towel - i tend to not use bath sheets.
Could you revive the ones you have with dye? I've done plenty over the years.

Sorry to go slightly off-topic but what do you do with your old towels?

Demote them to dog towels, when they start to wear thin they get ripped up and go in the rag bag to be used as floorcloths and for any really dirty jobs.

MikeUniformMike · 12/08/2018 20:11

Offer old towels on freecycle or freegle as suitable for dogs or contact an animal rescue centre. If they're not too tatty, try taking them to a charity shop.

I bought the Charisma ones from Costco; they are huge and fluffy and sometimes on offer or (I think) about £15/ea.

Bluntness100 · 12/08/2018 20:17

Another vote for white company ones, I've their Egyptian cotton ones and they are fab.
