To go to McDonald's?

justwanttolookgood · 12/08/2018 13:57

DH, myself and DS are all visiting his grandad.

Fair enough, we don't really have time on the way there.

But he's saying "No, we aren't going McDonald's".

My reason for wanting to go isn't just because I fancy it, I suffer from bad migraines and get terrible sickness afterwards.

Salty chips, or particularly McDonald's or Burger King, usually helps massively when the sickness is there Blush

I've said but it helps me feel better. He says no we aren't going, just have something else in the house if you're hungry.

I feel a bit Angry

WIBU to tell him to continue on with the taxi on our way back but stop off at McDonald's for myself and meet him back home?

Why are you going visiting if you are not well?

I'm not sick as such, just have the last lingering symptoms of what I get after migraines

YABU. McDonalds' food smells like and is excrement, he probably doesn't want that in the car.

It isn't going in a car. I'm also not asking for him to go, he just doesn't want to go or for me to go either

If he doesn't want one fair enough but he's your husband not your bloody boss/parent! If I want it but Hubby doesn't - though tits on his part!

How dare this man dictate to you what you can and can't eat!
How you deal with it - I can't say for you but my husband a) wouldn't stop me and b) wouldn't dare as he knows it would fall on deaf ears.
Maybe it's easier for me as I drive too and I don't know if you drive but he is being a complete selfish arse!
Hope you win xx

bigchris · 12/08/2018 14:52

Yeah the macdonalds might only cost a fiver but what about all the faffing with taxis

Hardly sounds fun for your one year old either

HappyBumbleBee · 12/08/2018 14:54

Just realised you're getting a taxi (I should read better)
I'd get the taxi to drop me off and send him home! Take your time have a lush maccy d's and see him at home later ;-)

Bluntness100 · 12/08/2018 14:54

Why doesn't he want you to go? Is that what he's saying, you can't go either? That's very different to "we aren't going"

DrFoxtrot · 12/08/2018 14:54

Don’t McDonalds do delivery in some areas?

CurlsLDN · 12/08/2018 14:57

I can see why your husband would rather not stop off, with the added cost and faff. Especially as you have a baby tagging along.

However, I also find that salty foods help my migraines, and that fast food does this better than anything else, so I totally understand you wanting to go.

I think the compromise is that if you want it, you go get it, without inconveniencing anyone else. I'm not impressed by your husband's flat out no, but there's two sides to every story and he probably doesn't understand how/why a McDonald's could really help you feel a bit better.

gluteustothemaximus · 12/08/2018 14:57

Doesn't matter what the reason is for wanting certain food, or what that certain food is.

You're an adult. He doesn't make decisions for you.

Having said that, I know when a certain food or drink will pick you up, even if it is sugary salty crap.

I can't ever imagine DH telling me no to a McDonalds because he'd be the first one to suggest it

cholka · 12/08/2018 14:58

If you're sick regularly, maybe you need to improve your diet? Junk food will send you to an early grave. And it's also terrible for your kid.
If you need salt, have some bovril or something!

GetOffTheTableMabel · 12/08/2018 15:03

I think bigchris is right. The taxi faffing means that he’s not being that unreasonable really. I do understand because I get similar cravings at the end of a migraine but I think the logistics of this mean that you’re being a bit unreasonable. If you have plenty of money, then you should absolutely take 2 taxis & he can take your ds home & you can pop to McD’s but, if that’s an unjustifiable expense then I think you should eat some toast.
I find I am more easily irritated as I emerge from the migraine fog. This probably all seems more annoying than it really is.

howabout · 12/08/2018 15:13

YANBU
Some of the commentors obvs don't get migraines. If I stopped my life for the duration of mine I would be practically an invalid and they would be even more of a pain than they already are.
Healthy eating does not help mine. Toast would never cut it.
Rebalancing my sugar and salt with junk food does.

Be kind to yourself and if that means a McD's then so be it. Flowers

Iputthescrewinthetuna · 12/08/2018 15:14

Did you get your Mcds?

justwanttolookgood · 12/08/2018 15:16

Thank you how Thanks

I can confirm that I haven't got my McD's... yet Grin

But going on way home from DH's grandad! DH is taking DS home with him

BasicUsername · 12/08/2018 15:16

Just get the taxi to go through the drive through. Then there is no faffing with two taxis.

happypoobum · 12/08/2018 15:17

Agree with Bluntness and with missing

Why did you go if you aren't well?

You are an adult and DH doesn't get to tell you what you can eat, when. Just ask the driver to drop you off at McDonalds and get another cab home.

DH sounds like a miserable fucker.

hannnnnnnxo · 12/08/2018 15:20

True, you could try and get a delivery via Uber eats

AnnieAnoniMoose · 12/08/2018 15:20

It doesn’t matter what it is, he’s not ‘the boss’, he doesn’t get ‘the last say’ in what YOU do. Just give the taxi driver you home address with a drop off tab McD not he way and tell Bossy Boy you’ll see him at home. Later. (Much later.)

AnnieAnoniMoose · 12/08/2018 15:22

Cross posted with you. Enjoy 🍔🍟

justwanttolookgood · 12/08/2018 15:30

We don't have McDonald's delivery here Sad cross because my DNan does but doesn't use it

OP posts:
Lovemusic33 · 12/08/2018 15:33

I want McDonald’s now.

No one should be deprived of McDonald’s when they are recovering from a migraine 🤣

Passthecake30 · 12/08/2018 15:38

I think you need to look at your diet re. the migraines tbh.

Would some waffles in the toaster help the same way?

catography · 12/08/2018 15:43

@Lovemusic33 ME TOO! *

Not relevant (sorry OP) but: has anyone ever had a mcgangbang? It's a mcchicken sandwich sandwiched between two cheese burgers and it could probably solve world peace, it's THAT good

19lottie82 · 12/08/2018 16:01

I don’t really think you can justify a whole
mcdonalds meal on the basis of sickness.

The OP is a grown woman. If she wants to go somewhere to get some food, she doesn’t have to “justify” it to anyone.

Lookingforadvice123 · 12/08/2018 17:10

zen1 yes same, I've had horrendous morning sickness with pregnancy number 2 and mcdonalds has gone down very well a couple of times. Much better than healthy home cooked meals...

YANBU.
