Hairdresser not sorting out my hair!

I had my hair cut and coloured last week.
We agreed on a dark all over base with two colours of highlights to try to cover what was there before which was too many bleach blonde highlights.
First attempt: hair comes out completely blond, highlights all disappeared and it's just yellow-blonde. Hairdresser says the dark colour hasn't taken.
We start again all over again with a darker base and two highlights - one blonde one caramel. It looks loads better so I pay.
I have washed it three times since and all the dark has gone. It looks like it's literally washed out and I'm left with yellow blonde and ginger on the top.
I've contacted her (she works for herself) and first she says the dark will take a few washes to come through, which doesn't sound right.
I send her photos.
Now she says my hair is stubborn and that "the copper in my hair doesn't want to lift the dark for some reason." And that it's not her work that's at fault, she's now on holiday for two weeks, then it's her daughter's birthday so she can't do anything and the only thing she can suggest is that I buy a purple shampoo to tone the yellow out.

AIBU to think this isn't good enough? I asked for dark hair with some caramel coloured highlights. First off she gave me blonde all over and now the dark is all washing out - it's supposed to be a permanent colour, I thought?

The only time a colour could ever become darker would be it re-oxidising and that would usually be from not rinsing a colour remover out for long enough. As a colour has been added rather than removed; I would suggest your hairdresser is trying to baffle you with bullshit. I’m not a colour technician btw but for the company I work for I have to pass an annual colour theory test or spend 5 weeks studying colour again in London and I do colour clients hair on a daily basis- it’s just not my specialty. I’m more than happy to help reply to your hairdressers emails if you pm me but I guess if she’s on holiday, she’s not going to be helpful or happy with the contact.

@dairymilkisevil yes it's the deceit I don't like- adds salt to the wound so to speak. She's probably just thinking oh she will fuck off and get used to it after a few days I'll just palm her off just now.

Your hair is never gonna wash darker. That's. ridiculous statement. The only time hair looks darker is if it's blonde and you stop using a brightening shampoo and your hair can start to look a bit brassy but not darker. L'Oréal lady sounds great! Just explain to her you need a colour correction and be honest about what you've had done and over what time scale. She'll need all the information to do a great job. Good luck

Luckycat that's exactly what's she's thinking, I believe. And you're right, it's the deceit that adds salt to the wound. I'm the one who has to get this sorted and whose hair she has damaged. But instead of apologising she's coming out with some utter crap.

You need to ask her for your money back and go to a colour specialist.
