Aibu to think London areas change quickly -ie ones thought of as 'dangerous' change to lovely village feel... Sometimes it feels within a few months...

Pal is thinking of moving to London, as am I. Both in health roles...

We're both flexible over geography...

Please tell us about your area of London and why you enjoy living there? ..

We love arty stuff, cinema /theatre /exhibitions... But would also like buzzy area with choice of places to entertain ourselves and choice of local shops?

Manchester.

I jest. When I worked in a “fairly central” Hmm London hospital I lived in Clapham and cycled or ran to work. That was 10 years ago when I had youth on my side and still training.

This “netters” thing, makes me feel like we are being interviewed for a shitty colour supplement on “Mumsnet Top London Property Predictions 2019”.

South west. Clapham, Balham, streatham, Richmond, Wimbledon, Tooting. You’ve also got the advantage of the train line.

What are the best places for easy routes out toward Bristol?

Ealing maybe? You want West London for Bristol but a lot of it is pretty horrible especially around Heathrow with the aeroplane noise. If you need to be on the west side, maybe look at Reading? It's an easy commute into London and has lots of decent shops, bars and restaurants.

Otherwise I like Greenwich but you need lots of ££££££ to live there.

By car? West London, or possibly south-west London. I would definitely say that if you are sledging to regularly make journeys in a particular direction then get yourself on the right side of London for that. We have to slog through a lot of London to go west, which is a drag.

When the Elizabeth Line opens (aka Cross Rail), travelling to Bristol via Paddington will be lot easier from east London.

Ah thanks all!

Also I hadn't thought about Cross Rail!

Kilburn or West Hampstead - easy for St marys and Paddington Station for Bristol?

One of my good friends lives a short distance from KCH where she's a nurse on an elderly type ward. I think she lives by a park, Ruskin Park? It's in Camberwell I believe. She's always out for brunch, drinks, at something musical. She affords it fairly comfortably by living in a 3 bed with 2 other nurses they each pay 900 per month, and walking or biking to work. When she wants to buy something she is going to be looking further afield, however.
