Urgent, hotel question

Hello
My mum had kindly laid for myself and my son to have a mini break in Berlin.

She let me pay for the trip using her credit card.
I've since read her st hotels you need to present the credit card used and your ID. My passport will have the same surname as mum but obviously a different Christian name.

I emailed the hotel and their reply was I need to have the credit card as a guarantee.
I'm terrified now that we won't be allowed to stay there.

I've used all my bank account funds to pay for or Euros spending money and don't have a credit card myself.

Is there a way around this please?
Thanks

You just push the ticket into a slotted box either on the busstop, or on the bus. They are usually orange. Honestly, if you have any problems like that - just ask! Most people speak excellent English, and are (too) happy to practice (I like to practice my German and then they speak English back! sad] Grin)

And the buses usually have a digital readout screen at the front so you can see where you are. The busStops are named and very clear.

A pre-paid cash card os a good idea - I use the MoneyCorp one. As fruit said, it's usually a better exchange rate, but even if not, it's fixed at the time of loading.

Thank you so much to everyone who gave me advice on using the bus and U Bahn from Tegel Airport to Select Hotel, Berlin the Wall- Bear Checkpoint Charlie.

Gosh I am so glad u used public transport as I'm on a low budget too. We were so imor asked with how easy and efficient the service was and what good value.

We arrived in Tegel at 7:45 pm and navigated fine here. Visited the Irish pub opposite our hotel and they had live music , McDonald's at Checkpoint Charlie for an Ice cream and found a small supermarket for a nosey and couple of bits.

There's a good vibe in Berlin and we are looking forward to museums, sightseeing and meals out.

My DS, who has just turned 11 is beyond excited. This was his choice of destination world wide. He would rather be here than Disney or anywhere like that. He has Aspergers and is obsessed with the history here, he's had a difficult year , as we lost my lovely dad and he was also bullied at school. This trip means so much to him, so thanks friendly tips and advice.

I hope you both have a lovely time. Don't forget to keep enough money back for the tourist tax.

Have a lovely time - I'm well jel!

Don't forget to do the Brandenburg gate! Did you know that the Chariot on the top was turned round after the Wall fell, to face to the West (previously they faced East)? And just through the Gate on the Linden side is a great Dunkin doNuts that my dc loved.... [all the best tourist places Grin)

I wouldn't bother with the bus
The train station is connected to the airport and is super easy! If youre going to berlin juat catch the airport express re7 or rb14 which is every 30 mins. It runs to multiple locations but we got to haubtophof berlin central station in about 30 mins. It's Berlin's main station and for reference it's about a 5-10 min walk to Reichstag from there! Once you've left the airport, head to the trainstation which is outside the main building get your ticket. Best get it for zones ab and c. And there's a red box directly opposite to stamp/ validate your ticket.
