Why does the character of Karen have this name? Her brothers and Jake and Ben, so shouldn't she be called something like Grace/Georgia/Lucy etc etc?

Karen would go with 'Lee' or 'Steven'

Karen as an umpire.

Not a good idea.

Settle59 · 18/05/2020 11:42

chomalungma

umpire?

chomalungma · 18/05/2020 11:47

Umpire

Settle59 · 18/05/2020 11:52

ah thankyou for the link!

My favourite Karen moment has to be when she is called in to chat to the headteacher at secondary school.

Settle59 · 18/05/2020 12:04

I saw an episode recently where she was in a shopping centre with her mum and she'd been left out by her friends -they hadn't invited her to a party - the episode was from 2011. It looked like it was filmed at the Glades Shopping Centre in Bromley but I may be mistaken

  • I immediately thought of all the mumsnet threads that have been started on situations like this - 'twas ever thus.

Well - Karen's mum was on Mumsnet in the show, so no doubt she posted a few AIBUs

People would probably have thought they were fake though Grin

ShinyMe · 18/05/2020 13:13

To the poster upthread who said the two leads are together - is that true? Claire Skinner and Hugh Dennis are a couple? Wow, I missed that.

@IAmTheWifeOfMaoTseTung

I have blue eyes. My XH has green/hazel eyes. Four of our children have brown eyes, one has blue.

Tell your mum.

Because Karen is THE best name

Nothing else to add Grin

My BF was born in the early 70s and I agree it is a name of that sort of vintage really.Grace ,Alice or Lucy would all sound more in keeping I think .

dottiedodah · 18/05/2020 14:15

I enjoyed the Programme and although they have a nice home ,it is not massive and they dont have huge amounts of spare cash either .Back in the 90s houses were relatively cheap in comparison ,and I think they would probably have been able to stretch to it fairly well .Also they may have been left money by a family member (This has happened a lot in R/L I think ) so people who have fairly standard jobs often look as if they cant afford it IFYSWIM!
