We started buying a house in May, we thought it would be done by the summer holidays.

It’s a different town so new schools etc. One hour away outside rush hour.

We are renting here so don’t want to give notice yet. Schools said we would have to have exchanged contracts before getting a place. The seller is being slow with documents and the chain has broken a couple of times. I don’t know what to do.

We can’t afford to rent a new house in the new town and here and have a new mortgage. They are all saying six months rent minimum. I don’t know what to do.

I will call agents about that. Thanks for the idea.

Threehouses - Do you know why not? You’re supposed to be able to apply for schools in other LEAs even if you don’t live locally. I believe if they have space they can’t turn you down. Though I think you have to do it through your own LEA. You could try asking on the Secondary Education board for a clearer idea of your rights and the normal process.
