What do you think about people who say this? Personally I think it's quite cringeworthy .

Your ex is trying to wind you up and you’re letting him.

So the takeaway is, detach from your ex.

Never heard this being said in relation to people. Just let it go OP.

Thinking about it, it can be true. My DH and i are blissfully happy (12 years), but his LTR before me was a miserable disaster for all concerned and from the bits he's openly told me about it wasn't all her fault by any means (and ended with police involvement!)

They weren't suited at all, and they bought the worst out in each other. I don't recognise the man he describes when he talks about himself in his last relationship, and we met very soon after it was all over. Few weeks. To me he's a lovely husband and a wonderful dad. Her trash, my treasure i guess.

You're right, I shouldn't give it any headspace. It just annoys me that she doesn't know the real him, and all she's seeing is the sweet, charming side of him.

Simple... at least between the 3 of us we recognise that to me, you are trash. Don't contact me again

It just annoys me that she doesn't know the real him

But she does know the real him. Or at least the real him that matters to her.

The relationship between you and he was just that. And the relationship between the two of them is just that.

It might have been you who didn't know the real him...

It’s more likely she’ll get to know the trash side of him very, very well, in time.
