Etta James - At Last (as a last dance, not a first so there were fewer people watching and we could fully relax and enjoy the moment).

Saisong · 08/08/2018 20:09

Kiss Me - Sixpence None the Richer

'Our song' was always Babybird's 'You're Gorgeous' - but the lyrics are dubious. Also Van Morrisson's 'Have I Told You Lately' - but it's too slow to dance to.

Nobody does it better Carly Simon

CaptainHammer · 08/08/2018 20:11

Lovely to me by lucky Jim.

Mentounasc · 08/08/2018 20:22

In the country where we live there's a tradition that the first dance is a waltz, and our wedding was Irish themed, so we went for 'Jimmy Hickey's Waltz' by the Waterboys, played by a live band. DH and I took waltz classes in a course full of nervous soon-to-be married couples all muttering 'one-two-three'. 'twas hilarious.

FuckMyUterus · 08/08/2018 20:25

When me and DP get married it will be 'something about the way you look tonight'. Cheesy, however the first verse truly sums up the way I feel about him in a way no other song could :)

You can't always get what you want - rolling stones

Sparklyshoes16 · 08/08/2018 20:28

Ho Hey by The Lumineers sung by Husbands Cousins two female and one male (imagine Lennon and Maisy from the TV show Nashville) they were amazing! Live Irish band and lights in the trees...makes me smile every time I think about it!

Manycatsandallthegin · 08/08/2018 20:28

Ellie Goulding - love me like you do

Still cant listen to it without bawling. We are competitive ballroom dancers so did a “proper dance”

Elpatso80 · 08/08/2018 20:29

Acoustic version of Maps by the yeah yeah yeahs

Had dance lessons to dance to it too!

ToffeePennie · 08/08/2018 20:31

Our “song” is wonderful world by Sam Cooke (I am a teacher and he was apparently the worst school student ever)
I wanted Doris day teachers pet, but hubby thought it was a bit too cheesy so instead we had “stand by me” by Ben e king.
Funnily enough I’ve text a line or two of the lyrics to him tonight as he’s having a rough time at work to remind him that together we can face anything.
It’s our thing now. “Whenever you’re in trouble just stand by me, oooh, stand by me, oh darling stand by, stand by me” it’s kinda saying we are equals and we will equally face all challenges.
But also every time we hear it being played (in the car/shopping centre/church literally anywhere) we have to stop whatever we are doing/talking about and either sing loudly (car) or dance no matter how mad it seems at the time.
