Reason may fail and your vocabulary desert you when presented by an oaf such as Bloom, particularly if he's spouting his bizarrely offensive opinions. In those circumstances, OPs son reacted quite mildly. Well done son.

I might have missed this, and apologies if so, but what was the context of the 'meeting'? Was it just in the street or an event? I was going to suggest it may have been a book signing or something but then realised GB probably hasn't evolved enough yet to be able to write....

Good on your DS. Something more astute migrants have been nice but frankly it would have either flown several miles over his head or bounced right off his shell of congealed arrogance, so the direct approach was probably best in the end.

Context: a large historical building/ tourist site. DS first spotted GB pontificating showing someone around. (There was a bit of discussion between me and ds about whether it was really GB, whether ds should tell him what he thought of him etc. I told ds not to.) Later ds spotted GB alone in the gift shop. Conversation verbatim:

DS: Excuse me, are you Godfrey Bloom?
GB: Why yes! Yes I am!
DS: Well you're a cunt.
GB: Well if you speak to me like that you wont mind if I kick you up the bottom then.

DS: What are you doing you idiot?
GB: Do you want to take it outside?
Gift shop cashier: Hey you can't do that! I'm calling security. Please leave!
DS went outside. GB didn't follow him. Security didn't come outside.
