Please don't flame me for posting in AIBU, but I need responses fast.
Been with my current employer 3 months, had no end of troubles from the very beginning, and these have only magnified since I've told them I'm pregnant, and now they 'can't afford to keep me' I need to know quick answers to 2 questions.

  1. is there any way I'm not entitled to a notice period?
  2. is there any circumstances under which they don't have to pay me for said notice period? Please help, I've Googled and its just stressing me out.

fenella that's 3 sales worth, including vat... But we'd only have 'room' for 5 sales a month regardless, maybe 6 if we really really shuffled stuff about. It's hard to explain.

It seems like a business that is never going to be profitable, so I can see why you’re not too upset about leaving!

youarenotkiddingme · 09/08/2018 08:19

Agree with keeping it in writing.

I'd be tempted to make it clear to them you know they are unfairly dismissing you (although sounds a godsend!) and that you know what your entitled to. So mention sales and confusion as your sales had increased by X% compared to quarterly period x-x before you were employed.

It's not about taking them to the cleaners but rather letting them know you know you can so they don't mess you about and pay what you're due.

namechange its a job I've done before for other companies who are much better equipped to deal with larger volumes of more reasonably prices services so I really thought I'd enjoy it, however I had lots of problems from the start with realising my job wasn't viable and sustainable among other things, so it's a mixed bag of feelings.

I would tell them that I was contacting ACAS or a solicitor, even if I didn't follow that through, just to put the fear of God into them.

@FiestaThenSiesta

BakedBeans didn't give any advice, s/he was quoting someone else whose 'advice' was, indeed, all wrong.

Magicmonster · 09/08/2018 16:46

@fiestathensiesta - Baked beans did give some generic advice but it was correct (unlike almost everyone else who posted before him/her) and answered the OP’s question completely adequately for what the OP was looking for (in my opinion at least!)

Oh and I’m an employment lawyer and not a HR professional. Wink

FiestaThenSiesta · 09/08/2018 21:29

Generic advice is not advice when the OP has been as clear as mud.
