To think this was poor planning by leisure centre

My son (4 years) has swimming lessons at the local pool once a week. Normally when classes are on, there is no public swimming on although there can be more than one class in the pool. This generally works well as classes are small and the instructors just spread out.

This week, the pool are running an 'intensive learn to swim course'. They run them most school holidays. This week is the only week during the 6 week hols that the course is running. There are two slots available so the course takes up 1 hour per day.

Now, although it is termed an intensive course, with young kids who are just learning to swim there is only so much you can do in a 30 minute lesson so I am by no means expecting miracles. I mainly booked as my son enjoys his swimming lessons and it was something to do to break the day up.

Yesterday's lesson was great - no issues.

Today however, at the same time as the kids lesson, there was a parent and baby class with around 20 people in. In addition, there was public swimming on. So the classes were squashed into 1/3 of the pool.
With so many people and 2 instructors doing different things, it was very noisy and the radio was on.

So, in 30 mins, the kids in the swimming lesson swam a grand total of 4 widths! There were no additional activities like there normally is such as collecting a ball, using a float - I think because of space and the instructor couldn't really make herself heard.

AIBU to think this was poor planning by the centre and if they are running and charging for a class they should at least plan it so that people get enough out of it to warrant the cost.

Hopefully tomorrow will be better and I am not a complainer - just a bit irritated!
