Just like the title says, I’m a very worried mum to an almost 2 year old. I’ve had some blood test results back for her this morning and am hoping to find a paediatrician to help me understand them. I already have a call in to her consultant and am waiting to hear back from them but anyone who can help put my mind at ease whilst I wait for the call would be greatly appreciated!

Hi, I know it’s horrible to wait for answers when you’re worried but you’re much better off waiting for the consultant who knows your child to explain the results to you - they will know what those results mean in relation to your child, why they were taken and what they plan to do next (they may also have info that you and therefore any of us on here don’t have on the blood result report which may change the significance of any results)

Hope you don’t have to wait too long and that your consultant is able to completely reassure you

Thanks for the response Sally. I think I just want to hear from others who can help me stop jumping to the worst possible scenario! They haven’t actually given me a print out of her results, just a request for another blood test to check her antibody response to vaccines?? This is based on her immunoglobulin test results but they haven’t given us those. I was hoping that someone could explain those tests to me or even some parents whose children have had those tests?? X

People can write any old shit on here which may make you feel better or worse

Youre better off waiting for the call. Write down all your questions so you dont forget any

My daughter didn’t produce antibodies to her pre school injections. She got them done again two years later and further tests showed she finally had produced antibodies. It can be genetic. I’ve been vaccinated against loads of things but don’t produce antibodies.

It wasn’t related to an illness or condition. Just one of those things. Remember they still don’t know exactly how immune systems work so they can’t always ascribe a specific reason for certain problems xx
